We were complete novices but Andy is a kind and encouraging teacher, as well as an expert woodsman, and we were delighted with our kuksas. We camped on site too, which was perfect (even in the rain!) The facilities are superb - from the large and airy workshop well kitted out with high quality tools to the delightful camp kitchen - altogether a magical experience!

Sallerton Wood was such a great experience. Andy is a friendly and patient host and teacher with a direct but laid back attitude.The Shave Horse course was a lot of fun and incredibly useful for learning a few different techniques.We camped during the course and enjoyed some great facilities and beautiful nature. Can’t wait for my next trip down!

The course was even better than we'd hoped. Andy was incredibly knowledgeable not only about the woodworking skills and tools but also the different types of wood we used. The entire weekend was incredibly inspiring about living a bit simpler and getting back to nature. We wild camped in the woods which really enhanced our experience and the structures Andy has built - kitchen, cabin, workshop and composting toilet among other things - were simply beautiful creations. Thoroughly recommend!

One of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had. After trying to learn these skills by myself I realised I was in need of help. Andy was amazing at teaching and showing me all the trade secrets to help me connect the dots.Great for beginners and the more experienced alike.Beautiful woodland to work inAndy and his family are great and cook you delicious food!Really can't recommend enough.

The loveliest Kuksa carving course - we learnt a lot about greenwood working (as beginners) under Andy's patient guidance and stayed in the beautiful wild camping site in the woods, especially enjoyed the home built rocket stove! A really peaceful, friendly atmosphere - can't wait to be back soon. Thanks Andy & Jane!
