Southern Drives

I had Chris and the team drop two kerbs, extend an existing block paved drive, & install a new porch step using the same block paving as the driveway. From the quoting stage to finishing the job I found Chris and the team friendly, reliable, and very easy to communicate with. They were very flexible too as we waited on Southern Water several months to complete some work out in the road.They did a fantastic job and I'm really pleased with the quality of the work, so much so, I've asked them to come back to do me a new patio!

A small family run business but highly professional from beginning to end. I arranged an appointment to get a quote and Chris turned up as arranged and punctual. We agreed dates for the work to be done and again everything went as planned. The work is of a very high standard and the team were respectful of the surroundings and disruption and noise was minimal. Would definitely use again and highly recommend. No job too small or big.

We had two experiences with this company. We asked them to quote to construct a driveway for a prospective purchase that we were due to complete on. Came out no issues, said they could do it no problem, but then got a subcontractor out for a site visit we knew nothing about (and neither did the then-owners so they just had some random people rocking up and measuring their front lawn), and were rather dismissive when I raised that this had caused a bit of a problem. After all this, and chasing up, they didn't even bother to quote or update me, so total waste of time.What is also telling is that following this I added an objective review on Yell re: our experience, and they got it deleted not because there was a problem with the content, but because they claimed I had breached data protection by mentioning the owners name in the review- which Yell agreed with.Secondly, the company who did actually do our drive construction for us, had to subcontract out the dropped kerb and crossover due to not having the Sec 171 licence. Unbeknown to us, this was Southern Drives, and after a few months we had weeds growing through large portions of the tarmac they laid down across both the crossover and pavement section. So despite indirectly paying them thousands of pounds, I had to constantly spray weedkiller and hammer down the weeds where I can only assume that the prep/thickness wasn't up to scratch.Regarding the response dated 01/03- if you are happy to tarmac over a poorly prepared site for several grand compensation, then I guess this speaks volumes. No issues were raised with me. Secondly, the reason there are no weeds is because of the aforementioned measures employed by myself to keep them in check as soon as they sprouted, in the spring/summer and hammering the patches of broken tarmac back down with a mallet.

Amazing job lovely red tarmac, guys worked very hard, very professional would be happy to recommend to anyone, NO Complaints. Know more weeding shingle!

Southern Drives were contracted to drop the kerb outside my house. In my opinion and of two other contractors who inspected their work, the job was done as cheaply and quickly as possible, of very poor quality and not fit for purpose.The woman on the phone when I called to complain was threatening and put the phone down on me!!Very unprofessional and I definitely would not recommend. The trade website the owner always refers to and owner’s website testimonials are possibly not verified or accurate.
