Cooplands

Well worth a visit to the best bakery in York, we always pay a visit when ever we pass cooplands and always spend quite a bit in here, all the food is fresh and cooked on the day (or made fresh on the day in the case of sandwiches and cold treats), the vast choice and quality of the food and drinks here are outstanding and the cost is cheap, which means you can get quite a lot for very little money. Definitely worth a visit if you pass, try the yum-yum's there to die for.When you go in make sure you show them this review.

Friendly staff. Got a couple slices of pastries and they were quite nice. Not a lot of selection probably because it was kinda late when I arrived. Not bad though.

Initially I entered the establishment to buy a cookie. I decided to take a picture to send to my nephew (he likes the cookie munster). I was then singled out in a shop full of people and chastised for taking a picture of the food which I was going to purchase. I thought this was strange and carried on with my purchase & now I kniw why she told me not to take photos..(And the reason for my 1 star).....Maybe it was because it was a hot day, but I found a fly stuck between the cookie and the icing within my newly purchased cookie munster cookie. I can only assume it rested there and got stuck, but I can see why Grotbags (the store manager) did not want me taking photos inside the shop as there were a few flies inside there (you can see a fly by the blue topped cup cake on the right hand side of the cookie near the cookie Munster cookie), but as a consumer I would expect the food to be fully protected.The food does looks good, but inspect it closely and take pictures just incase you need to return the food as you have to thoroughly check what you eat from some places (unless you like flies or your child eating flies).Staff were really pleasant and happy. Grotbag's (the manager at the time) may have known about the flies within the store. I wonder if this establishment is going to sell the same fly infested food tomorrow?

I got the “breakfast think outside the box” breakfast for £3.50. I was informed there were no hash browns or tomatoes available which was okay and I didn’t want egg so I was offered to double up on a couple of things. I asked to double on the beans and sausage. I don’t have a photo but I got two bacon rashers, mushrooms, two sausages and beans. I’m not sure if the member of staff forgot about doubling up on the beans portion however the portion of beans was tiny, I feel like it wasn’t even one big spoonful of beans. Other than the lack of beans the breakfast was okay and the service was good. Would probably go back to try some of the other pastries and sweet treats.

Pretty expensive, food is always cold and tastes stale and staff are not very friendly

Tasty and good value, lots of choice. Had cheese/pizza straws and a Christmas cupcake (it's not too early)

Dunno what all the bad reviews are about, it's a good friendly place for locals looking for a bite during lunch. I've visited plenty of times and never had an issue with the price, and it's always been tasty & they have very friendly staff.

Choose your own sandwich filling as they can be made to order. Great choice of cakes & pastries. I ordered a personalised birthday cake online to pick up from store -very easy & efficient process & it looked & tasted great too.

40 pound order to feed 2 adults 2 kids only turned up 2 drinks 2 sandwichs what a joke not happy

Cooplands always has a good selection of baked goods and is reasonably priced. Personally however I definitely think the quality of Thomas the Baker is a-lot higher and it’s worth the extra 150m walk around the corner.
