Learn to Paint with Dermot Cavanagh (Face to Face & Online Courses)

Dermot inspires you to do better he runs courses online and painting holidays both in Ireland at his studio and in Europe I have attended several and always enjoy them there is always new techniques to learn and nothing is toomuch trouble. At the start of a class he takes you through the art materials and emphasises the importance of good products. The tutorials are well run and good fun plus meeting new people is a bonus. I would recommend Dermot without reservation to anyone thinking of taking up painting or wanting to improve their skills.

I have now attend a few sessions with Dermot, they are very enjoyable and i always feel that i have learnt something to take away and expand on with my own painting.

Dermot is a first class tutor and and his choice of subjects is excellent. He explains the whole process from sketch to finished painting. I have attended several of his one day workshops. Nothing is too much trouble for him. He also runs three day workshops and holiday courses. I can recommend his online tutorials. They are competitively priced and, unlike some online courses, once purchased they are yours to keep and refer back to forever.

I love Dermot's online courses. Painting with him takes mindfulness to a whole new level. I feel it's like having a private tutor at home. He is relaxing to watch and makes me laugh with his chat. The great thing too is that as well as watching him live, I can watch the video in my own time as often as I like and I can pause and rewind which makes learning easy. Having Dermot's tutorials to look forward to at any time is a cheering thought, but during the pandemic they have been a key factor in me keeping my sanity! ....and my painting has improved! Dermot runs painting courses online, in his studio and all over the UK and painting holidays in Europe. I have attended several of these courses and enjoyed every one. Although I have been painting for many years in watercolour I learn something new every time. Dermot emphasises the importance of good materials, a well observed drawing and colour mixing. The courses are also fun and good value for money. I would recommend Dermot as a teacher without reservation.

I have attended 2 courses Acrylic and watercolour with Dermot in his well equipped studio in Moy. I have also followed his online watercolour courses from the beginning. These were a great weekly highlight during the various lockdown periods. Dermot is an excellent teacher, always willing to share his knowledge of technique and colour mixing. The classes are very informative and presented in an interesting and entertaining manner. I highly recommend Dermot's classes.

I had the pleasure of painting with Dermot on more than one occasion which were great and pleasureable experiences. I painted with him outdoors on one occasion and the scene we painted was full of colour. His approach to myself and others was professional but not too serious. He was aproachable, funny and had a great method good teaching. He didn't hold back on different techniques and materials as well as showing us how to enhance a painting with shadows etc. From the basics of sketching to the finished painting was a joy to do. I have painted with him online as well which was great. The particular painting we did online is still available for me to have another try, in the event that the first one was a little disapointing.
