A living part of Yarmouth’s History, really interesting to look round. Entry is free and the volunteers are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The boat was built in West Lynn the village of my birth.

Fascinating learning about the last surviving steam drifter fishing boat in the UK. It was great to explore the engine room and the living quarters - taking the guided tour was definitely worth it. Loved seeing the photos of the ship in action.

Excellent place for those who like interesting culture and history. Helpful volunteers, it does actually sail. Free entry, but donations appreciated and needed.

A free but intriguing sight that won't take much of your time: The Lydia Eva, a 1930 steam drifter (a drifter is a smaller version of a trawler), and the last of its kind - that is towed in the Yare in Great Yarmouth, and that you can visit free of charge. Competent and welcoming volunteers will tell you the story of the ship and its kind and show you around the boat, incl. the below deck areas. Alas, an injury prevented me from climbing down into the body of the ship, so I limited myself to listening to part of the story and walking around on deck. Still, a marvelous minor sight in town. And you will find the recommended Elizabethan House Museum on just the opposite side of the quay.

Absolutely superb restoration of a piece of history. My grandad sailed one of these over to Albany Western Australia but it only lasted a short while and was scuppered. So very glad this has been kept in working order..

Fascinating ship that is unique in preservation. Trips to sea are occasional and can be cancelled due to weather or unreliable pilots but are worth the significant cost, it is a rare privilege to sail on a steamship with so much freedom to join with the crew and learn about the operation of a steam fishing ship from a bygone era. If you can't go to sea visit the ship most days at Great Yarmouth free of charge and donate what you can afford.

This is free but was so good I gave a good donation (they take cards!). We were given a fantastic tour and great care was taken to help us round the boat, amazing history and atmosphere, I dare you not to come away with such respect for the fisherman and the boys who were the crew 100 years ago. We were here for 45 minutes and left really pleased wed been aboard. Go while she's still here on South Quay and/or there's such wonderful volunteers to show you around.
