Called in on the way back from Skipton.I have very fond memories of this place and have always considered it a great place to eat but on this occasion I was sadly disappointed. We should have known when we walked in and there was only one other couple in there, should have walked back out again. We both ordered the sausage and mash in a Yorkshire pudding........reheated, hard sausages, swimming in salty, lumpy gravy. The whole place had a strange feeling with the staff not really knowing what they were doing and the scruffy chef walking about with nothing to do.As we were paying for our meal (over £20) I noticed that the soup terrine had a lovely layer of thick dust on it so I would suggest not ordering the soup......if you're brave enough to go.

Such a warm welcome from staff who gave us choice of table. 3 areas all with roaring log fires. Food ordered, so much mouthwatering dishes we'll definitely be returning even though it's about an hours drive from where we live. Well done Cross Keys staff.

Popped mid afternoon today for lunch. No sign of a beer garden with access as advertised on the website but managed to find a table with sun shade at the front of the pub close to the noisy main road. Was looking to sit in the garden with a little privacy so a bit disappointed. Went to order a prawn sandwich on Bloomer bread with salad garnish to be informed they are only available Mon to Sat. Instead ordered a prawn cocktail for the same price of £7.95! I was surprised when it arrived served with a slice of Bloomer bread and felt my request for a sandwich could have been accommodated. It was a disappointing portion for the price and could have done with some tomato along with the shredded lettuce to make it a bit more tasty. An extra slice of bread would have allowed me to make my own sandwich and for the price paid it is all a bit silly trying to make a packet for the saving of money on a slice of bloomer. My partner found a big piece of bone in his Thai chicken tagliatelle, which was sadly lacking in flavour also. Apart from that the pub was nice and lots of dogs around who were friendlier than the staff, which made it worth a stop by. Would try it again due to the nice location. Room for improvement.

Dead good! Steak and ale pie for about £10, proper pie, clearly homemade and the gravy was delicious. Big portions too! They take a while to serve but it's a lovely comfy warm pub and they're really friendly. Highly recommended.

We had a great meal here. Food was hot and delicious, served quickly and with a smile. We got there about 5.30 so it wasn't massively busy, but by the time we left there were big groups of locals in eating and drinking, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. I would definitely return.

We came on a Sunday evening so ordered a Roast, but unfortunately they had ran out of roasties, so I changed my order and was not charged full price by way of apology. Nice inside, staff very friendly. Biggest bonus was that we could take our dogs in with us. Would happily visit again

My family and I were extremely disappointed with the customer service at this pub over the weekend and it is not for the first time! On the first occasion we has sat down at a lovely table in the bar area, we had ordered drinks and were about to order food but we're demanded to move to accommodate another group who came in with a dog even though they had not booked. As the children were hungry and expecting a roast dinner we moved seats. The food was actually very good but the rudeness of the staff spoiled the experience. This weekend we thought we would give the pub another chance as the food had been very nice. I popped into the pub at 12.30 and asked to reserve a table for five people at 3pm the same day again in the bar area. We arrived at exactly 3pm. Whilst we were waiting to be attended to my husband watched the manager (blonde haired lady) take the reserved sign from the table and seat 2 people at the table we had specifically reserved and we were told we would have to find another table. We did not stay this time and will not be going in this pub again.Incredibly poor customer service!
