What a charming little place with a great history. The owner has a lot of stories to tell

A old workshop in a wonderful setting. I did not expect to be welcomed by the owner himself who had a dry sense of humor and a lot of stories to tell. Walk around the building, the setting is beautiful.

This was the highlight of my trip to Islay. Loved seeing their woven fabric and finding some for future projects. Loved hearing their stories too. Don’t miss this gem.

Visited five years ago. Bought some clothes and a wonderful cap that I use all the time here in Canada. The only regret is not buying a vest thst fit me perfectly. It's a wonderful spot.

Very friendly family owned business, if you are interested in wool production you should definitely visit this place, the shop, which belongs also to this enterprise, presents its customers a great range of wool products from scarfs to classical tweed suits, after your nice shopping experience you could stroll around in the nearby located forest with its nice walking trails.

The owner was really nice and showed us around immediately. While not being super big, the mill has a nice old Charme. They have a small shop in case you want to buy some of the wool (in form of clothing) that they usually sell around the world.The area around is also particularly nice for a walk in the woods if you fancy. Bring some boots as it can get a little bit muddy and you don’t want to ruin pretty shoes.

In the land of craft whiskey, this is a gem of a place that produces another type of craft: woven goods. Tucked away in a building from the mid 1500’s, Islay Woolen Mill is known world round for their goods. You’ve seen them in movies like Braveheart, Rob Roy, and many others. They produce patterns for distilleries on the island (like Laphroaig). Visit the shop and you may even get a tour of their looms, some of which are nearly 100 years old. Scarves, shawls, throws, and so much more is available at great prices. The owners are a treat to talk to. There is also a bonus. Walk behind the building and you will find a lovely creek, with an accessible path to follow for a short walk. All in all this is a must for any trip to Islay.

One of my favorite stops on Islay. Got a lovely cashmere scarf in the shepherds pattern to remind me of our trip. Met Gordon and son and watched the Victorian looms in actions. Very fond memory of our trip to Islay.

Well worth a visit and so interesting to see the process. Lovely people and very valuable craft
