The best £3 you'll spend in Lancaster! We had a great time. Lots of interesting things to see and learn. Helpful and interested staff/volunteers. A really thought provoking art exhibition about slavery too

It's a pleasing house to visit and inexpensive. Its location below the castle down an ancient cobbled street and then facing towards a wide square and street gives it two different and photogenic aspects from inside and outside. There is some fine Gillow furniture well used by judges. Some good art. The Police Museum, if open, in the Castle is a good additional visit to this legal oriented house.

The whole family enjoyed our trip here today. Staff were very welcoming & knowledgable, & the museum had a really interesting range of exhibits. A lovely treasure hunt activity kept our little boy entertained & he was delighted with the sticker he received at the end of our visit.

This elegant building was a family home and then used as lodgings for travelling judges when they were in Lancaster. Visitors can see various rooms from that time, including one with a large Gillow billiard table. There is information in each room and members of staff on hand if you have questions. There are various fine pieces of Gillow furniture too and the views from the front windows across the roofs of Lancaster to the Ashton Memorial are stunning. A great way to spend a couple of hours.

Lots of interesting things to see and learn about. I attended with my 9 year old during dinofest and enjoyed doing the related activities. We also had a look around the whole museum. My son really enjoyed seeing the old classroom and old toys in the childhood museum. The garden area is lovely. It is reasonably priced and the staff are lovely. Will definitely go again when other events are on and when my youngest is a bit older.

An amazing museum of local and social history. Well worth a visit and the entrance fees far too cheap. A great place for schools to take children. I absolutely loved it ❤️
