Blood Taking Unit - Northampton General Hospital

When you book an 8am appointment and there’s a queue outside at 7.40am as doors don’t open until 8am then it takes 10 minutes to check in and everyone and anyone who has appointments get seen before the 1st appointments booked for 8am this is absolutely rubbish system and management need to review this it’s ridiculous

Clean and tidy unit. Friendly nurses and efficient system. It's not a drop in, so booking is a must

I was calling to book urgent blood test for my daughter. Telephone line is busy all the time and gets automatically disconnected. Rotine waiting time is 4 weeks online!

Good old NHS…the systems are down and can’t get another appointment for another 2-3 weeks…

Really disappointed with my experience here. Sent here specifically as local surgery couldn't do blood draws for a child. My 6 year old has been used as an absolute pin cushion, 5 attempts before they asked for help. (2nd nurse, first try, no issues at all.). He's never had issues with bloods before and now he's traumatised and terrified. No one even spoke to him or made any attempt to make it any easier for a nervous child, just jabbed away. Really upset. I'll be taking him to Kettering or Rushden next time. Not sure if the original nurse was training but I actually feel like she was 'let loose' on my son for a practice.

This unit is very efficient and works well despite the high volume of people attending. Gone are the days when you could just turn up without an appointment and have your blood taken. Now, ( Covid 19 period) you must make an online appointment.The unit itself is superb in quickly taking your blood. In and out within 5 minutes if you choose a correct time.

Yesterday morning ther was one nurse ho have headaches and she’s room was off lights i aske how you see were to see were to put ., and she left me with big bruises and was really rud . I do understand everyone is just people be if you work on that place we’re easy make some bad influence doing blood.

Absolute vile staff,After poking me 12 times I'm told I don't drink water and rudely given to another member of the tourture team.For a start I drink between 7-8 liters of water a day.. so it's not possible that's the issue and the 2nd these people aren't fit for purpose..Rubbish like all the NHS staff, uneducated, rude and, no compassion.Never go here again..
