This is possibly my favourite place I've ever visited! A fantastically huge range of books set out beautifully, places to sit and read whilst the super lovely and friendly staff serve you FREE tea and coffee, all whilst classical music plays. And to top it off, amazing rolling ladders! Heaven!

Really happy I stopped by this bookstore even if it was a little out of my way while in Edinburgh. Looks like they often have author events and as a result, have signed copies for sale. They have a cabinet of special editions and sets which is always fun to browse. It's well organized, and I love the ladders!

Top quality book store. Easy to navigate, well laid out, clean and tidy. Great selection of books (my interest lay in the natural history section) modern and old, and very knowledgeable staff. Five minutes into the shop I was asked if I wanted a cuppa tea! Which was free. Brought out a tea pot, while I sat and checked out a book. Which I ended up buying. My new favourite book store in Edinburgh!

Best bookstore ive ever been to. The atmosphere plus the huge variety of books. You can sit there in little corners and order a tea pot while reading. Such a beautiful place.

One of my favourite places in Edinburgh, perhaps the world.This is just the most wonderful bookshop, with endless quirky rooms to get lost in.I love browsing the shelves for wonderful books to read.Be sure the check out the upstairs level for a spot to drink tea with a friend and discuss (quietly) an intellectual topic, or while away the afternoon reading your latest purchase, or just watch over Leith Walk from the grand windows that let the light flood in.They even play wonderfully chilled music to make the experience of pottering around just idyllic.

If you like books then a visit here is a must! Wonderful bookshop with a huge selection of books, could spend hours browsing here. Staff are super helpful and provide a FREE pot of tea and biscuit upon request. There are some small tables where you can sit and enjoy tea and a good book. Located a short walk down the road from St James shopping centre

Such a beautiful library. Must visit even if you are not going to buy anything. I was enjoying exploring the sections and the hidden areas. I spent around an hour just admiring the place and the books. I’ve heard that they serve you tea while you are there but I hadn’t had that experience.

Lovely Festive browsing evening, with mulled wine and mincemeat pies. Lovely ambience. Very helpful staff. Went along with my wife and our grandson. Lovely looking through children's books and sitting browsing. A great way to spend a couple of hours and lots of books bought. Thanks to all for a wonderful evening. This bookstore was a maze of floor to ceiling books. With cozy rooms with tables or a couch you can even order tea! If I had more time today I would have marched over to this store, found my way up the stairs, and planted myself in front of the windows.They have so many fun sections, but if I could change absolutely anything it would be more signage that pointed readers to books on tables like “for the romantic girlies” or “fae smut” lol. I just hate when book stores don’t have curated tables and this place seems to have the staff that would love to do it. So do it! Ha.Overall this miiiiiight be my favorite bookshop I’ve been to on my trip.

Topping & Company is probably the best bookshop I've ever been in. Upon entering you are greeted by a warm atmosphere and high shelves filled to the brim with books. The varied selection makes it fun to explore. You turn a corner and might just find something new.I was also impressed that this bookshop almost completely concentrates on selling books. No miscellaneous knick knacks or little gifts and only a few select games and cards. This is a book lover's dream just a short walk from the inner city. Unbearable to think I might have missed this!
