The Cheese Barge
I really really enjoyed the cheese and wine here at the Cheese Barge. I also really liked being inside a pretty boat, something quite calming about the gentle water waves. It has a very clean, pristine feel inside and quite spacious. We did not make a reservation but we got a table (it might be because it was a rainy, weekday evening). Cheese was amazing especially the fried, curried cheese curds. Wine and prosecco was also really good. I highly recommend and will come back!

Amazing lunch here! Small restaurant located on a barge but plenty of seating available on the top deck when the weather is nice. We had a selection of cheeses with matching chutneys and sourdough and a carafe of house red which was very nice! Deserts were also very yummy! Staff were friendly and service was quick. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

The cheese barge was a fantastic experience! The staff are really lovely and welcoming. We did the cheese deluxe (4 cheeses with wine pairing). The pairings were perfect with each cheese and the cheeses were a great selection, a particular highlight was the goat's cheese rolled in ash.The portions are expectedly small and the pairings while great weren't exceptional drinks on their own, but that doesn't detract from a lovely experience overall. The boat is also lovely, spotless and spacious so you feel like you have your own space.Would definitely go again.

Seeing the other reviews I guess I've been the unlucky one. As a cheese addict I would have expected more from this place. Service: the host was really nice whilst the waiter seemed to be on another planet that night. Food, Drinks and prices: I don't mind spending money for good food but in this instance I felt like we spent around £40 each to leave with almost an empty stomach. Wine only option is a 125ml glass or a full bottle. The grilled sandwiches: my stilton one was almost half the size of the cheddar my friend ordered, for a £9 worth portion I felt like I've eaten nothing. The Cheese board: I see pictures online of quite decent pieces of cheese, each piece of cheese was meant to be £4.50 or £14.50 for a choice of 3. Well we chose 6 to share and for the life of me these pieces were so tiny that the long thin one was the size of my index finger. All accompanied literally by 6 small crackers to share, which means I ended up eating my last bits of cheese without. £30 worth cheese board for such a small quantity. Regarding the quality I can't say anything, however the taste was quite mild and didn't find anything outstanding compared to other cheeses I tried before (not exaggerating but I do eat cheese every single day). Last thing, the dessert: we ordered a chocolate mousse each which we had to finish very quickly because our time at the table was expired. For chocolate mousse you would expect something creamy and soft, our was solid and crumbly when broken with the spoon, the taste was good but again, I was expecting something better. Probably the experience wasn't the best because it was Saturday evening, however I wouldn't go back just because it's a nice location.

The Cheese Barge
The cheeses were nothing spectacular. I enjoyed the chutneys more than some of the actual cheese. I would expect something designed around cheese to have a delectable selection of cheeses (ie: really flavorful, stinky, soft/hard/crumbly, etc) but then I saw cheddar on the menu…. In my opinion, cheddar is the basic of all basics and so bland and boring. We had ordered three main dishes to share and sadly, they came out one after another (we were hoping to enjoy the charcuterie while also saying the cheese). The cheese curds were HORRIBLE, dry, cold, no flavor. The concept of this is cute and fun, but I would not recommend to anyone. It’s definitely been hyped up on social media for the concept, but not for the quality of food.

As a fan of the Cheese Bar, this place takes it even further with their charming Canalside boat location. Food is so delish and everything was just so flavourful. Of course get the cheese curds which is their signature. Another lovely dish is the courgette Welsh rarebit, it packs quite a punch and tantalises the tastebuds. If you’re in love with cheese, treat yourself to a feast to heaven.

This was our first time visiting The Cheese Barge. We highly recommend making reservations, which is what we did. We loved the atmosphere and wish we stayed longer, but was quite exhausted from our travels. The food was delicious. Not sure if we would visit again just because there were other places that were amazing, but we did enjoy ourselves and ate good food.

I've travelled through Paddington many times but never visited the canal until today. Delightful area, especially on a sunny day. The Cheese Barge is a unique modern venue and we were lucky enough to sit outside. A fantastic menu with a great range of cheese and cheese based dishes to feast from. Also great wines to pair! Would 100% recommend the signature cheese curds! One of the dishes we ordered did not arrive but we chased it up and it came very quickly.

Really nice restaurant for cheese lovers. I've been there a week ago with two friends for lunch and all of us loved it. We shared the melted brie and one of the smaller dishes and all of us left the place stuffed haha. The food is delicious and prices are okay. It definitely is an experience eating on a boat with all the people passing by. Booking recommended, cost is £10 per person, which will be deducted from your bill. Bathrooms available.
