*Worst haircut and blow dry I’ve ever had*I don’t like giving bad reviews at all but after a few days of still feeling upset and bothered following a bad experience at Lazarou’s I feel I should offer some feedback here.Lazarou is not somewhere I usually get my haircut but I used them once or twice a few years ago and been relatively happy with them. I’ve heard lots of good reviews in the past too and not being able to get an appointment elsewhere when I wanted I thought I’d give them another try.The staff were pleasant and welcoming on arrival. I explained what I wanted in the chair to a nice lady hairdresser and then got my hair washed by another lady who I can only assume now is a ‘?trainee/junior’ hairdresser. She was pleasant enough and showed me to the chair where I had to explain again what I wanted but it was to her this time. The ‘trainee’ then proceeded to hack away at my hair in a slightly unconventional way to how I’m used to my sleek bob being cut. I remained somewhat naively optimistic as I thought surely it would turn out okay since I thought Lazarou had high standards and this was just the hairdressers way that she did things whilst still learning on the job. She then proceeded to blow dry my hair into oblivion, burnt my scalp four times with the hairdryer and left my hair looking wildly bouffant and even frizzy. I usually have naturally sleek, smooth, straight hair so I felt completely embarrassed by what she’d done to it and how it now looked. My haircut was also not what I had asked for. I’d asked for an under the chin length bob with slight layering and tapering at the back to give it some shape so when I then proceeded to ask again for this when I realised this is what I was left with she said she couldn’t do that and then asked the other lady hairdresser (who’d given me the initial consultation) if she could do it. Naturally she said she was busy (and that was clear to see) and then a male hairdresser came over and made me feel like I was given what I had asked for and said what I actually wanted would need to be cut wet. He offered me some ‘square layers’ which I didn’t want and I had to explain again what I had asked for initially, which would’ve been cut wet had it been done right first time. I felt really frustrated and upset that this is what I’d asked for in the first place but wasn’t given.I’m not usually a complainer and remained calm and diplomatic about it all at the time as didn’t want to cause a fuss but obviously this experience wasn’t the best by any stretch.I then had to wait over 50minutes in front of the mirror with big frizzy bouffant hair that I felt mortified with; not to mention it was uneven at the front, the left side was longer than the right and I had a piece of hair still uncut on the right dangling down. Bearing in mind this was meant to be a sleek straight bob with slight layering and tapering at the back.Thankfully my hair was somewhat salvaged by the initial lady hairdresser I’d met, she was really nice and apologetic but it was then recut dry with straighteners when it should have been cut wet.I then bizarrely got offered a loyalty card by the receptionist and had to pay full price following what felt like a horrendous experience. Most of the staff were in fact nice and apologetic but I feel the service there was below sub standard. I appreciate every ‘trainee’ has to start somewhere but customers should be informed beforehand if they are going to have their hair cut by someone with limited skills so they can then choose for themselves if they want that person to cut their hair or not.Customers should leave a hairdressers feeling satisfied and happy with their hair and experience but this unfortunately was most definitely not the case for me. Needless to say I won’t be returning again and most definitely won’t be needing a loyalty card.
