Robin is extremely patient and calm with his teaching methods to my son, who can be quite anxious. Robin has helped him build his confidence in his ability to learn to play the piano, and read music as a complete beginner. His progress since he began his lessons with Robin is incredible to see, and this is testament to Robin and his positive teaching style.

I am an adult guitar beginner and have been working with Robin since September 2019. I have found Robin to be very patient and a great teacher of not just how to play the guitar but he has introduced me to the fascinating wider world of music. Robin answers my endless questions and always makes my lesson time with him very interesting. I always feel that Robin strikes the right balance between the lesson time being constructive/challenging/supportive/positive experience and fun. Thanks to Robin I will now have a lifelong interest in classical guitar.

Robin has helped my son hugely in building his confidence and skills in singing and at the same time exposing him to new music styles. He helps him make the most of his strengths when singing/performing. My son also really enjoys the lessons which makes a big difference for a teenager!

I've been taking guitar lesson with Robin since February and in that time I feel like I've learned a lot, not just about music but also the mechanics of playing the instrument and creating different textures of sound. What I really appreciate is how Robin's lessons are totally student-focused - he starts with what you're working on and develops the lesson around it, so I feel like I'm learning at my own pace and in directions that are really interesting to me, instead of just wading through a book. Robin's passionate and knowledgeable about music and a friendly, encouraging teacher; I feel like my confidence grown a lot with guitar and I'm really motivated to keep learning.

As owner of a bluegrass banjo, I was recommended to contact Robin to improve on my own attempts at musicology.Lessons were initially face to face, however with COVID we changed to an online Skype format.Robin has taught me how to read sheet and tab, with a preference to sheet as this allows me to explore the fretboard and find my own way around chords, riffs and licks.Online lessons have enabled some session recording, which is a great way to revisit the lesson and to pick up on new concepts and techniques.I very much look forward to my weekly lessons and feel that my confidence and ability has increased massively as a direct result of Robin’s guidance and teaching style.I have no hesitation in recommending Robin; his musical ability, knowledge and patience has enabled me to better understand and appreciate music, and I really do now take time to become absorbed, relaxed and distracted.

Robin is very obliging and approachable, he is always flexible when it comes to the inevitable diary clashes.Lessons were initially focussed as a beginner in Nat 5 Music with Guitar. Since then and with successful exams behind us lessons continue, a great relationship makes for ideal learning and having the option of face to face or on-line lessons works well for us.

Robin knows music very well, but perhaps more importantly he cares about how students learn effectively. Three of us in the family (me and two children) have spent the last two years learning with Robin and have each found it an enormously rewarding experience.
