Prison & Police Museum

Great little museum, especially if interested in law and order. Great location with big car park and cheap car park across the road. Best value if go for an all 3 Ripon museums ticket. The gent on ticket duty was both friendly and helpful and looked the part.

This is an excellent place to visit me my wife and her cousin had a wonderful time spent over 2hrs there and ran out of time 10/10

I used to come here with my mum and a friend of the family. I always wanted to come back when I could drive myself. So as it's near enough halfway between Newcastle and Barnsley, I visited on my way home from Newcastle after watching the match and staying the night. It was every bit as good as I remember. The staff on the front desk were helpful and pleasant to speak to. The exhibition itself was informative and interesting. I thoroughly recommend everyone to go there. And learn why prison guards got the nickname screws. Also go see the first set of handcuffs and the first finger printing systems, and so much more. Have a picture of yourself in a jail cell. You won't regret it. Especially you crime buffs like myself out there.

Great little museum with super friendly staff. Well worth a visit, especially if you get the 3 museum entrances combined ticket. Plenty see in such a small building. Good gift selection.

Guy on reception today was poor with customer service. Made my partner feel very upset as I had to explain the concession card was for a disabled visitor and guest and I showed Pip proof of letter. Thank you sir for making the final museum experience poor. No history given. This is my second visit. I returned as I wished to share the museum with my partner and paid for the three in one pass. The police museum was a great let down I'm sorry to say.

Husband enjoyed it as an ex prison officer. Plenty to see and lots of memorabilia .

Well worth a visit if you're in the area .You can buy a multi ticket that allows you access to the court museum and workhouse museum for 12 months

We visited here as part of the group ticket for Ripon's 3 museums. Although the museum isn't huge, if you take the time to read all the information, you could spend a good couple of hours there. We learnt a lot and it was interesting to build upon what we'd learned at the Courthouse Museum. My daughter particularly enjoyed it and spent time completing the activity sheet provided. There were quite a few tactile exhibits that allowed the kids to get hands on and experience what it would have been like there. An interesting education for all ages.

A good little museum to go as a family.Lots of information on the local history.The children enjoyed looking around and all the interactive parts.If you have a MAX card an adult and child can get in for free.Under 5s are free.You pay one fee to visit all 3 museums and it's a 12 monthly return to visit the museums.
