The Bear
First time to The Bear for a while. Had lunch with friends and we were pleased with everything. Good food and very friendly staff. No rush to leave after our allotted two hours. We'll certainly go again. Cheers

The Bear
This was our second visit to the Bear and our roast dinners were very disappointing. The team had brought out burnt cauliflower cheese to the table in which we instantly asked them to take back for a replacement. One of the team muttered under their breath that it was caramelised, which was quite rude. When they returned, they brought back the same dish, but had scraped off the burnt and covered with more cheese. The pork belly consisted nearly of all fat, it was a very bad cut of meat. What we thought was a sausage, had turned out to be a burnt carrot. The roasts average about £20 per head, therefore had expected it to be tasty but in our experience, it was a complete let down. Burnt food and rude staff, would not recommend!

Great pub for lunch whether it’s sitting outside on the deck or in a cosy booth near the log fire.Lunch menu is good & the light menu gives you you delicious sandwich options. The young staff are always friendly & attentive.Top tip if you fancy the Bear Pub burger which is 5 stars, I’d suggest passing on the bacon & onion ring extras - £4 for 3 x onion rings & a slice of bacon is a joke.

What an absolutely stunning pub. Youngs pubs are usually very good, but this is a cut above the rest. An amazing selection of beers and a couple of very well kept ales, all served by lovely and enthusiastic staff.The food is excellent - everything we had was brilliant but may I just highlight the fries specifically are out of this world. I'm not sure how they do it but they are basically triple cooked fries. The crispiness is unreal.They are excellent with young families too - really welcoming and accommodating.

The staff were so lovely. Both chaps who served us where super polite and friendly. The atmosphere was fine although they played jazz music which I personally can not stand. I couldn’t concentrate. Maybe an array of music would be nice to suit all. The let down sadly was the roast. Small, bland and boring. Sorry guys. Really nice everything else…. Just the food needed a bit of something something more than the veggie Wellington, 1 carrot, dollop of cabbage, spoonful of ‘mashed parsnip’ and 3 roast potatoes.

In my own personal opinion I think it's a tad pricey, but that isn't me saying it's bad at all! Every single member of staff was so wonderful and friendly, the food was delicious and portions are perfect!! It's just a very pricey place, I would recommend this for special occasions but not a regular, either way it was a wonderful experience and I loved my time here
