A surprising museum, at first I did not think it would appeal to me but each room was filled with many items of interest. The staff were knowledgeable which made the tour very interesting. Loved the idea that we could print our own names using the tiny metal letters (type). Would recommend going and seeing this quaint little museum.

What a fantastic day at R. Smal & Sons in Innerleithen. The printing business has been there since the mid-1800s and actually printed the very first 4 page weekly tabloid newspaper the St Ronans Standard. The National Trust rescued the business, and it's still printing today with the original victorian equipment. Staff were very welcoming, helpful, attentive, and very knowledgeable. Colin, our tour guide was awesome and was very passionate about his trade and the work that the business is still producing.

An amazing place with amazing people. All of them were very helpful and we all had a great time. Definitely worth visiting if you are around. Prices are very reasonable too.

We had a lovely visit to the printworks. Sean, Colin and Jake were brilliant hosts and guides and really brought the works to life for us. Looking forward to another visit.

Absolutely brilliant tour. The ladies at the front of house kicked it off with a summery. Into the tour the two guides Colin and Jack were very informative and easy to understand. All in all a great experience. Thank you so much.

Robert Smail's Printing Works
Visited with my wife and grandaughter (aged 12). Staff could not have been more friendly or engaging. Printing process various machines described and shown working. Got the chance to set the type for a short name/message and this was printed and sample given to take away. Fascinating family story and the buildings contents are a step back in time. We were all engrossed for the duration and this was highlight of our day weekend. Fascinating

Extremely informative and entertaining tour, so good to see a complete workshop with all its history intact, a precious resource. And the gift shop has unique printing samples very well worth buying! A fabulous afternoon
