It has to be stated that the decor is decent and the staff are friendly and my girlfriend and I had a good time but that had little to do with the restaurant. The first problem we had encountered was with the price value of food for the amount you get and the lack of professionalism. The starters were reasonably priced, we got a taquito and spicy chicken wings, both delicious and prepared well. However the chicken wings did have a hell of a lot of sauce but I didn't mind that, they are a type of food you eat with your hands, and as such I expected at least a wash bowl or some lemon scented wipes as was custom from a highly rated restaurant that serves food you eat with your hands. Ehen I asked for something to clean my hand when I used my napkin and my own drinking water they came back with more napkins apologising for not having any, when I decided to go to the toilet she pointed me to the disabled toilet as a place I could wash my hands. What was obvious when the main course was placed in front of us was the fact we paid over £10 for the dish and got less food than the starter, 4 chicken strips soaked in spicy sauce and 3 pieces of chicken with cheese, crunched up nacho chips, mayo and guacamole, unacceptable, we had the choice of chips and Mexican rice. Now the food was not bad, the spicy Louisiana chicken tasted great and the chicken was succulent and textured, my initial surprise for such little food on my plate was washed over, though the nacho chicken my girlfriend ordered much larger in size portion was very bland of any flavour but the Mexican Rice was a complete joke. As custom with Spanish/Mexican rice it is usually made with tomatoes, garlic, onions and other ingredients, perhaps some spicy peppers, or jalapeños something to give it a kick, the rice usually looks reddish orange . However what was served was boiled white rice still soggy, with a few green peas and occasional sweet corn and so much coriander it smelt and tasted like medicine, coriander is not that nice tasting! We had such a good laugh about the attempt of calling something so bland and weak Mexican rice. When the rice was complained about they said they used to serve spicy rice which people complained about because they couldn't handle the heat which I think people should have been told before hand that it was spicy like all other things on the menu, but they replaced it with a none spicy rice dish, however it was not the only time they had received complaints about how bland and poor the rice was, my girlfriend and I wish we had got the chips but you know, we went to a Mexican restaurant, chips was the last thing on our mind.So we were told that the manager was going to take the rice off our bill... I was so confused, the rice comes with the price of the main, it was served with it? So we eagerly waited to see what was meant by that when the bill came. We were also offered a two shots on the house, and they served us an golden orange liquid without telling us what it was, it smelt really good and we sipped it, it wasn't very strong we expected maybe a honey tequila as it was a Mexican Restaurant. Once they came back we asked what it was and it was a shot of Mango Sourz, one of the cheapest bottles of drink you buy in tesco, again we laughed, knowing the shot was probably £1 but it was nice and we did appreciate that they cared for our complaint. At this point we considered if we should stay for desert, the Pecan pie was very tempting, a lot of the deserts were not made in the restaurant but brought in from other outlets such a Chapman's Cheesecakes, but the Pecan Pie had no tag or advertisement which stated otherwise, when it arrived it was amazing, it really had saved the meal, when I asked did they make it, they told me they didn't and it was brought in from somewhere which they couldn't remember, at that point I wanted to leave as I felt awkward, that I was complimenting someone else's food.

Went there off a recommendation from a friend and really enjoyed it. For quite a small establishment, it has a great atmosphere. Food was great and staff were helpful and friendly. Would go again.

Been there a few times and it used to be good. In the past year it seems that prices have gone up and portion sizes down. Would much prefer to go to chiquitos for better food and better customer service. Will not be going back.
