Maddie has recently finished a 16-month project with us and we are absolutely delighted with the results! We have a large garden which has old fruit trees, a large lawn/field area and a stream running along the border. We wanted to plant more fruit trees, create a more wildlife friendly garden including an area of wildflowers and incorporate some sitting areas and a pergola. Maddie immediately understood what we wanted and we loved her approach to wildlife gardening and planting and she is incredibly knowledgeable.Maddie came up with a wonderful design which included a new entranceway, steps and low wall into the garden, stepping stone pathway leading through the garden, and large curved wildflower areas and beds with naturalistic planting. She had taken what we asked for and created much, much more on a grand scale!There have been a few challenges along the way - varied soil types throughout the garden with flooding in some parts during the winter, boggy areas and dry areas. Maddie has worked with the garden along the way, finding out what works best where and revising planting plans where necessary to suit the garden as new surprises appeared!The end result is a total transformation but working sensitively with the existing garden. Maddie has created a really special space which we adore. We are really looking forward to seeing the garden grow and evolve.We have had so many compliments from neighbours and visitors. Two of the highlights are our 95-year-old neighbour who has lived across the stream for 75 years and says that he’s never seen so many different types of bees and butterflies in all his time there, thanks to our wildflowers. On the other end of the spectrum, a teenager looked round the garden, and, in awe, said “it’s like Love Island”!
