After losing my Mum (105 years old) in April and then 3 close family members and a dear friend all before Christmas 2022 I was in a very dark place. I was encouraged to contact Age Concern which I did in January. After moving into a flat in sheltered accommodation I went to 151 Dale St and my life changed completely. So much to do and places to go a BIG THANK YOU to the staff and volunteers.

Plenty of thing's to do and help for those that need it.

This a self supporting charity with a very good social club, The Poppy Centre, it is open, Monday to Friday from 1030 to 1430.

I was a carer in Bootle for over 20 years completely unsupported. When my wife died I was left here a very broken man, alone and isolated. Age Concern liverpool and Sefton had nothing to offer except a long waiting list, then when it was my turn to be helped they let me down anyway - they made excuses up why they could not help but ultimately they had nothing for me. I am alone and sometimes desperate, yesterday I phoned them, only to be turned away again, I spoke of my intent of suicide - they just phoned 999. This was a waste of time because when the ambulance and police were sent out here, there was nothing they could help me with or sign-post me to. Age Concern like other organisations out there claiming to help people, seem to pick and choose who they help. People like me who come from a poor area, people severely broken, suffer mental trauma and thoughts of worthlessness and suicide, we are left alone and isolated waiting for the time when things become too much and simply 'call it a day'. Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton have not been any help to me, probably just made me feel even worse. I have nothing left, no where to to go, nobody to contact; Age Concern were the last resort and they just passed the buck to the emergency services; not only wasting thier valuable time but also showing just how inadequate 'Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton' actually are. So, Age Concern Liverpool and Sefton, I am very sorry I mentioned I feel so down and depressed I feel I need to take my life, but you need to understand that when people phone you they are desperate for help and you probably are their last resort; the emergency services are not there so you can pass problems on. I know this is all over, I won't bother you again. God bless my lovely Judy - I miss you so much. Xxxxx
