Couldn't be happier with Ross and his team! They supplied the most phenomenal wedding menu ever, every single plate was cleared by our guests. His staff were also super friendly, professional and experienced making our day run smooth as anything. Fantastic value, fantastic experience.

Do not do business with this company. That's if they are even in business anymore! We were due to have them cater at our wedding in June. We were drawn in by the photos and Ross's sales pitch. Contact was good until we paid deposit then it was terrible. We also foolishly paid deposit before trying food as we live down south and during covid this was the only option. We tried food in Feb and it was a disgrace, I wouldn't feed it to my dogs! Ross tried to talk his way out of it, talking to us like we hadn't eaten meat before and didn't know how it should taste!The mind boggles as to how he has even one decent review.We lost our deposit but thankfully were able to find another caterer. Funnily enough he is known in the industry for down right shaudy communication and attitude. Please do not give him your money.

Our experience using Ross and the wider Fox Hat team was absolutely superb from start to finish.The booking process was really simple and Ross’ communication was prompt and helpful every time.When it came to selecting our menu choices, Ross gave us a huge selection of options to choose from. What’s more, there was a massive variety of choices for those with dietary requirements which is definitely not always the case. Our vegetarian and vegan guests were delighted with what was on offer for them (and the carnivores were lapping up that food too).Closer to the wedding day, the Fox Hat team were able to provide us crockery at fairly short notice and Ross also met us at the venue to go through the various steps for the evening. Gowan, another member of the team, was there too and was extremely helpful. Ross also sent me loads of videos of the meats smoking the night before the wedding which made everyone so excited to try everything.On the day itself, the service we received from Fox Hat team was absolutely faultless. The food was incredible (every single item presented was so good). All of the dietary requirement meals went straight to the correct people as well, and we had a fairly big wedding so I’ve got no idea how the Fox Hat team managed that because we certainly weren’t being that helpful!A special shout out to Laurie, who was part of the Fox Hat serving team. It’s no exaggeration to say that she knew what my wife and I wanted more than we did and kept us right throughout the day. She was on top of all the timings and made sure the day ran smoothly - it was like having our very own wedding planner. We had the perfect day and I am certain something would have gone wrong with the reception was she not there!I have read through some of the other reviews on here and I have to say I think they are quite unfair. The main bone of contention seems to be that you don’t get to try the food before the wedding. That may be a reasonable expectation for your run of the mill wedding food, but the Fox Hat product is anything but standard. We had beef briskets for our main meal, which can take upwards of 12 hours to smoke and it’s not like you can make a single portion of brisket - you’d need to make a full portion and the rest would go to waste. That’s just not practical and would be an expensive waste of time (in my humble opinion). Perhaps a more sensible option would be for any customers of Fox Hat to visit one of the food festivals / other public events Ross attends with his smoker and try the food there.So many of our guests agreed that the Fox Hat menu was the best wedding food they have ever had, and we couldn’t agree more.

Usually not the type of person to leave bad reviews however after my experience with Fox Hat catering for my wedding in June I have to share this review to hopefully avoid others having the same stress and anxiety on the run up to their wedding. Also just to note I have sent this feedback to them also via email after the wedding and unsurprisingly received no response.My experience with them is primarily on their communication and not particularly on their service on the day - however we also were not overwhelmed with this and did not live up to expectations.First of all we never received a taster session or got to pick our main menu. We were told that to lock in our package (£ pp and numbers) it would automatically select a menu however we would receive a taster session nearer the time and be able to choice our options closer to the day. We never got to do this (despite repeatedly asking) and were only able to select the canapés a week before our wedding.In the months running up to our wedding I tried to contact them multiple times (via email, text, phone and WhatsApp) to confirm various details which we had been unable to discuss (final numbers, menu + taste test, table plan, running order of the day etc - basically everything). We were ignored up until a week before the wedding when they sent an apology email and asked us to confirm details. In the meantime we began receiving almost daily automated invoice reminders to pay remaining balance, which we were reluctant to pay given we hadn’t heard from them in so long - however we did being nervous they wouldn’t turn up.We asked to add 10 people to our 150 guest list in one of our emails and although they had been completely unresponsive to our comms - they had obviously been reading them as we received an automated updated invoice almost immediately but still no response to any other questions/concerns. We realised they had charged us more money over and above the extra people and they did not explain this. When we did finally get a response they said they needed more servers to accommodate the extra people charged at the current rate as opposed to the rate we agreed with them the year before (the amount extra they were charging us never sit right with this explanation however this was a week before our wedding and we were so concerned they weren’t even going to turn up we paid it).The person who owns the company and who we were corresponding with (or trying to) completely ignored us on the day, I even text him on the morning of my wedding as I still wasn’t convinced they were going to turn up and he ignored it.The servers they brought were great however I believe they were from a different company. Although it was a menu we didn’t chose, it was nice enough however there was a lack of sides/ accompaniments and the service was slow - albeit this may have been a power supply issue with the venue as we were in a marquee down by the loch so I’m not entirely sure whether this was a venue or Fox hat problem. For the money we paid (which was a lot) it really did not live up to our expectations and the whole process was a let down when I really researched them and it was one of the things about the wedding I was so excited about.

I can’t speak to some of the other reviews here, as they weren’t my experience. But I can tell you my experience.Our wedding planner recommended Ross/Foxhat to us during our search for a caterer, and they immediately caught our eye due to my wife’s love of Foxes and my love for meat. Coming from the states, it’s particularly hard to nail smoked meats and BBQ. We have this problem even in California.I have to say, Ross nailed it. The food was fantastic, his staff was wonderful, and the appetizers and late night food were fantastic. We wanted our wedding to be both spectacular and relaxing (for us) and Ross helped deliver on that. He even made some themed cocktails named after me and my wife’s cats.For selecting our menu, Ross gave us a list of things he’s made after we gave him a long long long list of foods that we were into. Since we were coming from the US we weren’t going to be able to taste anything beforehand, so we were going with what our wedding planner had said which was “The food is fantastic.”And it was. Probably the best food I’ve ever had at a wedding. I may be biased but it’s true. If you aren’t a fan of Smoked Meats or BBQ then maybe Ross isn’t the caterer for you.Ross was hard to get a hold of sometimes, but not that hard. We communicated on WhatsApp frequently, and I never felt truly out of the loop at any time. And none of that affected the quality of the food or service at all. Ross was even flexible with catering to our food sensitive guests, and knowing that we were going to be a rambunctious crew, Ross ensured we had enough drinks to keep everyone happy. It was a night of full bellies, big smiles, and warm hugs. Ross helped make that happen.Fantastic dude, fantastic food. If I had to get married again I’d do it exactly the same.

Incredible food! We hired Fox Hat for our pre-wedding BBQ and around 130 people left feeling extremely full and happy - the meat was smoked and cooked to perfection! Would highly recommend.

Our wedding venue had the absolute pleasure of working with Fox Hat for 3 consecutive weeks. Ross and his team were professional to a high standard and the reviews from guests on their food was amazing and we all thought so too. Would highly recommend and we hope to work with you all again some time in the future ⭐️

Would give zero if I could. Let us down right before our wedding after being uncontactable for months. Has been telling other brides it was because we “asked too much” - Ross suggested the menu to us! AVOID AT ALL COSTS
