Brook hall - My friend has experienced nothing but hell from Unite students, and after speaking to a few other students (of whom I do not know and that live in completely different blocks to my friend) they've also had bad experiences and can't wait to get out. There is a silverfish infestation and they tell you there isn't, they will fumigate your room leaving you basically homeless and tell you the silverfish are gone. They're not gone, they live in the walls and floor. There is a lady on reception who is extremley rude and role's your eyes, even when you're complaining nicely and not being angry.. of which me and my friends are due to the lack of support and absolutely no compensation even after explaining multiple times who my friend is paying for a room but isn't even living in it and is sofa surfing and staying on friends floors at their accommodation due to the silverfish issue which is YET to be resolved after months.

Relatively quiet and good for studying. Good internet connection with LAN cable. Room is smaller than expected, the common area is good.

Context : I’m a student at UoM from England studying maths and I play rugby. My experience:Brook Hall is overpriced, unsocial and comfortable. It did not feel homely and had no soul, I lived there for a month and felt more attached to where I moved to (Oak house - £67 cheaper a week!!) within a few days. For me, living away from Fallowfield is a massive L - less friends/fun/community. I can say with confidence that if I was still in Brook Hall I would be depressed with less friends and playing less rugby and not go to the gym as much(due to the location). Also, Brook Hall isn’t on the Victoria Park campus along with the rest of them.Who would enjoy Brook Hall?An introverted individual who prioritises convenience and comfort over community and the university experience. A lot of exchange students stay away from Fallowfield and prefer the quiet of Victoria Park.Again, this is only my opinion but if you want to feel like you are a uni student… Fallowfield!!!!

An incredibly quiet and cosy student accommodation for all types of students. Lots of local amenities nearby, and some great places to eat. The staff are friendly, they’re there to help, and they’re more than happy to go out of their way to do what they can when required. Generally, an awesome place to stay if you’re looking for student accommodation in the south of Manchester.

Affordable place for accommodation. But there is no lift available. Room are okay, not really good. Free cleaning service and WiFi as it is an university accommodation.

When I arrived my bedroom and bathroom was not as clean as it should have been. They claim to hire cleaners however from the look of things they don't or the cleaners don't do their job properly. It took me to gut the room before it was of a standard to be lived in. Also, the kitchen had been newly fitted which granted is a very good thing; nevertheless they had not cleaned the units and so saw dust and other dirt was in all of the units and drawers, which, I had to clean before being able to store anything. Most of the staff are friendly and are helpful; however not all staff meet the standards expected. Yes we are all students, yes we may be 18-21 years old, the majority 18/19, yet that does not take away from the value of our opinions and our role as customers which is what we are at the end of the day, so respect should be given by all members of staff to all students living in the accommodation until our actions reprehend us of that courtesy.

Lived here for a year. The team are supportive and welcoming and the rooms are nice but all the same and pretty small. The living area is nice but we struggled for space in the fridge as freezer. Minor repairs took far longer than they said but they were very quick with more major repairs.

Very overpriced, rooms are decent size and the bed is nice. Not a sociable accommodation for students.Bathroom is small and the showers are awkward to use.The only reason this gets 2 stars is because the staff is friendly and supportive. Having said that my toilet leaked and my bathroom was covered with an inch of water; it didn't get fixed until 3 days after I notified them despite frequent enquiries by me.Overall, you do NOT get what you're paying for, and I don't recommend this if you are a student looking to live in Manchester x

Hot water tank broken can’t take showers however five days without proper repair problems still exist! Seven bikes got stolen inside the hall underneath the CCTV camera and no compensation for owners! Investigation launched but no results, unsafe at all!!!

Currently staying here for work, I won't be coming back. I don't know what it's like for students during term time, but as a short term visitor it's very uncomfortable. Handy for the hospital, that's all I can say. Grubby and rather tatty room, absolutely nothing provided beyond a plastic covered sweaty mattress (I was aware that I had to bring my own bedding and towels, but toilet paper??). The kitchen area is compact but untidy and dirty. And it's incredibly noisy-maybe I'm a bit older than the usual residents, but all I can hear is doors slamming, echoing screams and shouting, and loud music from all directions. It's constant, intrusive and unpleasant. And there's no information on what to do or who to contact about anything. Really not happy.
