South London Dance Studios is truly a wonderful dance school, offering an impressive array of dance classes, within a professional and delightful setting. The teaching is of an exceptional standard and this is reflected in the outstanding results the students attain year after year. The combination of quality management, quality teaching, student dedication and team work, is the ingredient to an excellent dance school where teachers, students and parents are happy.SLDS has played an important part in our daughter's life for almost 7 years, and her confidence continues to excel, as well as her love to dance. She is a student of Ballet, Street Jazz, Tap, Modern and National Dance, all of which she thoroughly enjoys. Over the years our daughter has developed an impressive portfolio, and has made some wonderful friends. She is very proud to be a SLDS student.

I have been attending adult beginner ballet class here for nearly six months and it's the highlight of my week! The teaching is great and the classes are always fun. I would highly recommend this school - even if you have zero dance experience.

Both my son and daughter dance at SLDS. My daughter started dancing at SLDS when she was 3 and dancing remains her greatest passion aged 10. She has progressed through her exams with great results thanks to the lovely teachers who give their all to the children. The team show great commitment (and also expect it of the kids) to the exams and results and this can be seen in the grades. My son is about to take his first dance exam (he does ballet, tap and modern) and dancing has helped him develop confidence in himself and his body. Both the kids took part in last years show and I was amazed at the skills and resilience dance and performance has given them (especially my son who was 5 at the time). The children all appear happy and confident at SLDS and the older children develop great social and personal skills whilst in this environment where they interact not only with each other but also other parents, teachers and the wider community of Herne Hill.

My daughter went to two other dance schools in the local area for 2-3 years prior to trying SLDS. She's been at SLDS for the last approx 1.5 years and so far, she's enjoying it the most as standards and expectations are very high. As a parent, I love how well organised everything is.

My daughter has been going to dance classes her since she was 2 year's old. She loves going and I have seen her confidence grow as a result. As soon as my little boy is old enough he will go too I'm sure. The team seem really nice but also disciplined which I think is important.P.s. really nice location to get coffee, buy groceries whilst you wait.

I've had an unpleasent experience there. My daughter age 7 attended half a term. Despite the fact she didn’t finished that term, they expected me to pay it in full, plus pay the term coming because I didn’t give notice. They chased me multiple times. I found this so unpleasant. My daughter had just started and the teacher was aware that my daughter wasn’t enjoying it. Reason why she stopped attending the classes half way through the first term. I had a clear impression that all they care about is money.

Lovely baby ballet class based in Herne Hill but near enough to East Dulwich - we started with melody music where a parent attends the class too and now in nursery 1 where little one attends class without a parent - definitely worth attending Melodie music first to get them used to the school and lessons. Classes seems to be a good balance of fun but also introducing the concept of having to follow instructions and listen to the teacher but all done in a very gentle and caring way. The rest of the older classes seem to be very good and professional - it’s definitely more of an actual dance school compared to other places.

Back office is really passive aggressive and will let you auto-enroll into the next term, without properly giving you notification of the deadline. They will force you to pay the full term fee based on a Ts and Cs technicality, even if it's one month before the new term starts and you explicitly don't want to re-join. It's such a strange way to treat (until then) loyal customers who have already been with them for a few terms - and in the middle of a cost of living crisis. Avoid! Run! Don't look back!

I've been learning tap for 5 years and ballet for 4 years at SLDS and I can highly recommend them to any adult looking to find their feet. I looked for a long time to find regular classes for adults that were for beginnings and focused on helping them learn rather than classes for people who already knew what to do. The teachers I've had at SLDS have all been excellent, clearly explaining steps, positions and movements while making it all enjoyable. Everyone - teachers and other students - is very supportive, and while it may be hard work sometimes learning new things as an adult, it's always a lot of fun.

SLDS is a wonderful dance school! We enrolled our daughter when she was 5 and there she stayed until now, at the age of 18 (it was at a different venue then, under a different name). She experienced all genres that were offered and excelled at most. She took part in several of their shows and presentation of class work; as well as competing in some dance festivals, where she won several medals. She wasn't the most outgoing child but these experiences helped her mature into a determined young woman who is responsible and disciplined. It also gave her a life long love of exercise!Through the 13 years she was there she made friends and had a fantastic time. She counts present and past teachers as her friends as well. After a period of indecision she decided against pursuing a career in dance, but we are sure she will carry on dancing wherever life takes her. When researching universities, dance was always a consideration. And talking universities, the several advanced level exam certificates she holds now add extra UCAS points for her applications.I highly recommend SLDS to anyone who would wish to introduce their child to dance. Thank you to all the teachers and to Miss Zoe for their amazing dedication.C&J
