Southend Central

What a joke! Ticket machine outside is for cards only (!) and seems never being working- today for example out of paper so can't even collect tickets! You either need to go around through high street or ask the staff to open the gate so you can go to buy tickets.

Staff are very helpful. Was very touched by a member of staff who helped me navigate my way across the station during a vertigo attack, and waited with me until I was picked up by my dad. This all happened a few months ago but I never got round to writing a review after this man helped me during a very scary time.I will say, however, that I encountered some very unpleasant, sarcastic security members at the station last night. Their attitudes to simple questions were very uncalled for.

There needs to be more information on assistance for disabled passengers arriving into this station.

Not happy with this station at all (Southend central) - few weeks ago we went Southend with mum, and on the way back the staff at Southend central never gave Stratford station the correct information and some other passengers lifted mum off the train in the wheelchair as no ramp was there for her.And today man told me platform 1 to London we walked there to find it was platform 3 - not great when you have a bad back and foot. Awful service.Complained by email about mums experience and was told to get in touch with someone else when London Underground said contact national rail.

Great station for getting a train to and from London to get to the beach or like me to visit the pier railway.the station appears well maintained with easy access.

Could not collect tickets ordered on trainline app as the office was closed, a helpful security gaurd showed me how to print off on the machine, many thanks.

Card machines don’t work for card collections, so ordering a ticket for collect. You’d still have to queue up…. Can’t use Amex …. Rude staff and dirty

Poor show for a major route into London . Normally only one person at the kiosk to buy tickets and one old Machine which does not always work. Often big queues to get tickets especially when they don't have a person in the ticket office which is often. The station is run down and not very nice.I purchased a ticket from Benfleet the other day, with my network card, and it cost me £1.90 for the single. Today I got a single to Befleet and cost me £2 more and part of the journey is also on replacement bus. Total theft of money. No wonder why people scam all the time as they feel they are getting ripped off all the time. Families cannot get out and about properly at weekends as they are always doing work.on lines. Amazing how the lines are always working when the city people are forking out if bucks to travel.Dire state of affairsUpdate 14/06/22Has any changed? Has the service got better? Nah, if anything it is worse. They do have two ticket machines at the main office now but one has not been working for two weeks . I arrived at 09:47 to buy my ticket for the 10:06 train, so plenty of time. Once again, like a lot of occasions recently, no staff in the ticket office and one machine operational. The queue was long and no staff about to help those struggling with the machine. This is what our higher fares get, squat diddly and reduced staff. The gate was open on one of the entrances so that helped a lot of people bypass the queue.
