The opening times are a bit limited but if you are a group contact the pub in advance and you may find they can serve you. We ordered in advance as we were a group of 12. The food arrived promptly and was delicious. Recommended

Great homemade food.. traditional country pub. Excellent service.. did I mention the food. Really enjoyed my time here would definitely go back for a second third and fourth time!

Pretty good food that goes beyond the usual pub grub". Quite a long drive - part of it on narrow country lanes that adds to the charm. Loved my haddock though ham terrine was too salty. Mixed dessert was awesome. Good friendly service."

Excellent meal, the pies were mouthwatering. I'd highly recommend this pub to anyone. The hospitality was great and blankets were provided for a chilly York day. The travel from York city centre was easy enough with the car and didn't take too long. I recommend booking in advance as it fills up and for good reason.Great job, keep up the great work!

Stopped for an evening meal on the way up to Whitby. Lovely village location. Felt out of the way but is close to main roads. Great ambience and comfortable surroundings. Food was excellent and very well presented. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Very good drink selection, including a new Aspall's cider that I'd not heard of before which was very tasty.

First time visiting and we were really impressed. Great location, plenty of parking and a heated outdoor area. The food was top class and the staff were really welcoming and helpful throughout our visit. Definitely returning soon!

Popped here with family and friends to see Santa. What a charming little pub. Service and food was great, and the on site Gin Distillery is cool to look at. Was really impressed. Will go again.

Love this place. Friendly staff and another first class visit here on a glorious summers day where we enjoyed a lovely meal (great menu choices of just ‘good’ food) a couple of drinks and a hyper-relaxed atmosphere in the front garden - a four hour lunch well worth the drive for!

A warm welcome, good food and very good service on a Friday afternoon.The only drawback was that after our visit we were unable to get through on the phone to book a table for Sunday lunch so probably best to book online.
