I've been meaning to see this beautiful house for a long time and it was worth waiting for. Lots of helpful informative staff around the hall. It is truly spectacular. The grounds and walled garden enjoyable too.

What a beautiful place! The walled gardens are absolutely amazing and the house is full of inspiration and history. The gardeners, volunteers and guides, both inside and out, are so knowledgeable and enthusiastic that we spent much longer there than anticipated. The cafe in the old stable block is lovely. The current sculptures were amazing too, especially the Blip.Well worth a visit... We will be back

We only visited the walled gardens, they were spectacular and made the visit well worthwhile, even though we didn’t see the house. Initially I thought the £12 per person entry for the gardens, without the house included, was a bit steep, but having visited the gardens I think it was good value for money. We also had a delicious meal at the café where the staff were charming. Only thing is, I’m not sure that children would find it very entertaining, and there are no dogs allowed. But for us, with no children or dog today, it was perfect.

Been to Norfolk numerous times in last 25 years, but I have not visited Houghton Hall. What a revelation. Hall inhabits the current owners, an ancestor of the original house creator. However, you are able to look around the hall to see its splendour. The park and the modern art exhibits scattered around are fantastic and create a great walking experience. The white deer, in the rut season, were showing off, we saw 3 stags going for it, galloping full tilt across the full length of the park...amazing.

Came on a coach trip with the St Ives Gardening Club. The walled garden is spectacular and the variety of plants and the sheer riot of colour was amazing. Thoroughly recommend . There is lots of seating dotted around so you can just sit and just breathe it all in. If you need to recharge your batteries its a perfect place to unwind.

Absolutely lovely afternoon out and easily a 5 star review but for a certain audience only. It isn’t dog friendly and would be pretty boring for kids and most teenagers. The cost of getting in to the gardens and the house was £22 per adult. This compares well with Sandringham estate. I think the gardens are better than Sandringham, but for kids and dogs Sandringham is a winner. The highlight for us were the gardens. They are unbelievable. Whoever has designed them deserves a medal as do the people who work there (from memory 6 full time gardeners, 1 part-time gardener and 8 volunteers). When you experience the perfectly symmetrical hedges beautifully presented beds you will see why it isn’t open every day. Even the army of 15 gardeners must need time to make it all look so perfect. There are some very interesting sculptures strategically placed around the gardens which add to the interest. We attended when there was an additional Scully exhibition. These were good to see too, although for me, the permanent features were probably more impressive because of the way they compliment the gardens. The house is interesting and worth a wonder around. Lots of history, and plenty of original decor and furniture. The volunteers are knowledgable and help with ones understanding. There’s a local art and crafts sales room in the stables called C&C. I reluctantly attended having a pretty negative view of this kind of thing but actually… there were some really interesting items. There’s a good cafe serving a decent selection of drinks, sandwiches, cakes and hot pastries.Overall, a must visit.

This has a wonderful garden (if you like that sort of thing!). Full of surprises and delights. From the water/flame sculpture" to the amazing fruit cage where the berries grow. Deliciously planted

Brilliant place, the house you feel is a country home in the grandest tradition, with quite the wow factor. The staff were brilliant to a person, pleasant and engaging all veritable mines of interesting information. Want to find out about Britain's first prime minister? This is the place to go, corruption, Britain's longest serving Prime minister had a dodgy rep. The sculpture trail is brilliant, currently a Shaun Scully exhibition is also on site and did I mention the deer? Sandringham, pah.

£22 for house and garden and is worth every penny. Lovely gardens but the house steals the show... beautiful!
