Sports Direct

Very packed shop with lots of sports clothing to choose from that is mainly leisure wear (for men), though there isn't a great deal of colour options other than black and variations of gray. There aren't really any propper isles among the clothing racks so people requiring pushchair and wheelchair access may struggle quite a bit. The lighting isn't too bright, for those with sensory sensitivities, though there is some strip lighting. There isn't any overly loud music playing like in most sport shops. The parking outside is quite cramped, (and shared with Halfords and TK Maxx), even with the few disabled spots.All of the women's/girls clothing/shoes is upstairs and there isn't an elevator/escalator for disabled access. Plus the majority of the clothing requires assistance to reach (a ladder or a cherry picker!). There isn't that great a selection with regards to types/styles/brands/sizes. There are very few members of staff available and there is often a bit of a wait at the upstairs till. The majority of the staff are friendly. It's not an overly busy store, but I would definitely recommend shopping online for more variety and especially/unfortunately if you are female or require wheelchair/pushchair friendly access. In store is probably best suited for P.E clothes/shoes for school.

It has got quite expensive but the products are quality.

My first visit to the store (from the U.S.) and was very pleased when I received such excellent service from the sales associate, Dawn. I tried on several pairs of trainers and Dawn was helpful and attentive throughout Also happy with my final selection.

Not busy at just before 1700, well stocked and plenty of staff to help out.

Can't really fault the store or the staff. Not a fan of the returns policy though. They'll only exchange and won't do refunds. So online shopping is a bit hit and miss, so best to visit a store. No click and collect on offer, other than delivery to a store which is the same price as delivery to home. Doesn't make sense to me.

Wow... Good store and good prices, but the customer service! It gave an extra star for the friendly male member of staff when we walked in who approached us and gave us directions of where we needed to be.On the top floor , the female member of staff was rude and unhelpful. We eventually got the items we were after and stood at checkout, where we waited and waited, while being looked at by the same member of staff. I gave up and went downstairs, where I got served quite quickly. I was going to mention my experience to her but she had as much enthusiasm and personality as the girl upstairs, so I didnt bother. Awful customer experience.

Bought 2 pair trousers tried on one pair 2nd pair ment to be same size when tried on at home weren’t took back don’t give refund only credit note not happy

Maybe an unfair review, as i'm sure I am not Sports Direct's target demographic (in that I am older than 16 years of age). Their merchandise seems good, is well stocked and priced, so I guess that is what counts most. Its the rest of the 'experience' I don't like - crammed shop with little space to move, indifferent minimal wage staff, music, excessively bright lights etc. I find as soon as I go in, I want to leave. However, as I did leave with what I came in to buy, my moans may mean relatively little.

I have been to this shop more then on one occasion, but 11th of Jan was my last visit .. oh boy. We enter the shop, main floor, men's wear, there was an employee standing , leaning on one of the shoe displays...on his phone... we went past him, he didn't even lift his eyes. we walked around a bit because I wasn't sure where the ladies sport shoes were... no one..no one in sight for help, and the lad is still on his phone. okay, we went up the stairs and found ourselves at one of the sport shoes department, had to go around looking for help because there were things i didn't really knew what they meant..and I wasn't sure what kind of shoes I needed... I got someone to come over, but to be fair, he wasn't much help at all... no drive no motivation to help whatsoever. I was eventually pointed to the direction of LADIES shoes that weren't for running! apparently the display i was so focused on were running shoes... I eventually gave up, paid for my items that I have chosen beforehand and even whilst paying the same very lad that was with me earlier never bothered asking if I found what i needed. I paid and left superbly not happy.

Great experience and friendly, helpful staff! Found the perfect pair of wellies at an excellent price.
