Smokehouse By The Dean

We have visited the Dean previously in the past and always had a fantastic experience. Last week on opening week we were passing the Smokehouse and decided to stop for a drink. The food looked so good that we stayed for something to eat as well. Everything was delicious and the staff really welcoming. We would recommend the pork belly bites especially and will be visiting again soon!

3rd visit to The Smokehouse and some yummy food again. Disappointingly they had no rib eyes so it was wowser clucks and a burger, both of which were very tasty. They also had no pancake mix which was a shame as having had the pancakes before we know how good they are. However my son was very happy with his ice cream with marshmallows so that made up for it. Staff are very accommodating at altering dishes e.g no sauce or bun not toasted and would have been 5 stars but for the 2 dishes unavailable. Hoping to try the American breakfasts next so fingers crossed for the pancakes.

Service, furniture and food is extremely poor. The whole place is still not ready to be open. Fake wooden walls up on both sides, looks like it's still under construction. Staff kept walking off when we were talking to them. They sat behind us, chatting to friends and where extremely slow for somewhere that wasnt busy. Ordered the blooming onion, soggy and greasy. Was not crispy at all, infact it was swimming in liquid at the bottom. 'The Emma' was a joke of a dish. Plain chicken on a waffle with a fatty peice of bacon and watermelon. For somewhere that's supposed to be americanised by a Texas inspired menu, bacon should be crispy not undercooked and fatty. It does not come with fried chicken, slaw, maple syrup or Alabama sauce. When we confronted staff with the issue they were ignorant and smirking claiming the menu and the Facebook advertisements were wrong. Felt like we where to blame for their mistakes. When it eventually came out....wrong again, it still tasted as bad as it looked. The way it was presented was an act of laziness as the place was not busy. For a place with a limiting menu, I'd expect more care to be put into the food, making and presenting. Especially with those rip off prices. Didnt feel welcome at all. The staff were shy and quiet. When we arrived a bunch of staff where cuddled up in the corner just staring at us. The same goes to the chefs who obviously dont care about the food they are making. The rest of the food was covered in a unnecessary amount of sauce so you couldnt taste anything else. The burger buns were so dry they fell apart as soon as you touched it. The quality of every single detail was poor, poor service, poor food quality and poor dining area. Would rather sit on a park bench in the rain.For a place that says they take criticism well. They deleted my comment and a picture of the dish we recived, off facebook. They should be embarrassed.

Fantastic food. Good portion sizes. Reasonably priced. Super friendly staff. I will certainly be returning.

Food doesn't live up to the Menu, so quite a disappointing meal.Only one bottle of Mayo for all the tables, so the waitress would come and take it off you for the other tables, very odd!Blooming Onion was just a greasy soggy onion, wasn't crispy at all (advertised as crispy/deep fried) and wasnt worth £10. Sauce was okay though.The Emma" was half a chicken breast

Went for the first time last night and we had the Emma, the Ribs and the Blooming Onion. The food was just fabulous and we'll be returning for that.Thought it was nice touch that the Head Chef came out to check that his customers were enjoying their food too.The service was at an acceptable standard and I'm sure it will improve with time. The only thing we was disappointed in was the presentation and decor - or the lack of it. However I'm also certain that will be improved as things develop.

Excellent Breakfast and service and a big thank you to cai who looked after us and made our first time enjoyable.

Food and service poor, blooming onion raw barely any batter on it, £2.50 for a piece of bacon on the burger which was also raw and 75% fat, loaded fries was literally a basket of mush, asked twice for condiments was never brought, staff walking out of the empty shop next door with a huge tin of jalepenos on his shoulder shouting something bizzare about nachos at a customer, long wait times in between meals being brought out, server picking skin off his hands and flicking it whilst stood at a table waiting for a card payment to be made, furniture looked like it was straight out a skip and had wood coloured wallpaper stapled to the tables which was full of rips. Messaged to Facebook page to inform management of the issues and to resolve and was left on read. Absolute rip off and very unprofessional.

Lovely food..Staff are friendly and pleasant..will definetley be going back..great value for money too.xx
