Climb Devon

Both myself and my sister completed a coaching session with Jamie recently to learn trad climbing so we could work towards our RCI qualification. Jamie was very thorough before booking the session and made sure to get a good understanding of our previous climbing experience and an idea of what we were working towards so he could cater our day to our ability and to ensure we progressed towards our goal. We learnt so much in one day (gear placement, rigging bottom and top ropes, rigging a personal abseil) and managed to complete our first trad leads which was amazing. Jamie went beyond teaching us trad climbing and all the required rigging shared loads of amazing tips on what gear to buy, different crags to head to improve our trad climbing going forward, and things to practice before our RCI course. Honestly I can’t recommend him enough, we had an amazing day and feel so much more confident in our climbing ability.The days tuition is worth every penny. Jamie’s work goes beyond what you experience in the days coaching, you can tell a lot of preparation and thought went into planning our day, it had the perfect mix of climbing and rigging practice. Jamie has also followed up with us after our session to give further advice on next stages of progression.Thanks Jamie for an amazing day.

As a complete novice, I signed up for a 2 day Rock Climbing Introduction. The weekend course was wisely postponed on two occasions due to bad weather. Once it eventually happened, the days were full but fab and fun! Jamie is an excellent, knowledgable teacher, great at communication (beforehand, during and afterwards) and professional at all times. If you are looking for an intensive intro to climbing, I highly recommend you book a course with Climb Devon. You will not be disappointed!

Had a really positive session with Jamie out on the hill refreshing my skills in preparation for ML assessment. I found Jamie to be a knowledgable, friendly and professional instructor who gave me very clear guidance on my abilities and areas for development. My boyfriend and I had a great morning with Jamie learning to trad climb at Hound Tor. Jamie was a great guide who explained everything really well and answered any questions we had. We both feel like we learnt a lot of great skills and had a lovely morning out at the crag! We would love to do another course with Jamie in the future!

Had an amazing rock climbing experience with Jamie, who was very knowledgeable and accommodating to all needs. He was patient with the kids and interactive and fun to be around!

He very expertly & efficiently planned a half day climbing for my three children (11-16 mixed abilities) in Dartmoor with Julian who was the knowledgeable, experienced and friendly climbing coach. Jamie is a brilliant instructor, very friendly and informative and made sure that we would get out of the session what we wanted. He is great at responding to any concerns and made it very easy for us to learn belaying and top rope climbing. Will definitely be booking with him again next time I'm down in Devon.

From the booking process all the way through to the final day of climbing Jamie was an absolute star. He is knowledgeable, patient, enthusiastic and very safe. We had two full days on two separate tors and went from learning the very basics of trad climbing, to attempting some quite difficult climbs with Jamie offering advice, encouragement and expertise throughout.
