Discover and Be

I contacted Sheila at Discover and Be to work with my daughter at the start of year 6, particularly in respect of maths. My daughter was lacking in confidence in her academic ability and I wanted to help her feel more positive about her learning and finish primary school feeling confident and ready to start secondary school. My daughter enjoyed all her lessons with Sheila, who understood how to catch her attention and harness her potential. The support Sheila gave her through that year was invaluable and made such a huge difference. I would recommend Discover and Be without hesitation, their professional approach married with their caring and nurturing teaching is the perfect combination.

My daughter is learning guitar with Faye who is such an inspiring teacher!  Faye is kind and patient, and has hooked my daughter's interest with songs she knows, as well as broadening her horizons with music she isn't familiar with. Faye recently recorded my daughter playing a piece she had been learning which was a real treat for us all and something my daughter is very proud of.  The lessons are held in a music practice studio brimming with musicians coming and going which in itself is inspiring to be around.   Thanks so much Discover and Be!

I am very grateful to have had the lovely Jo tutoring my son for the last year. He had had a difficult time in his previous primary school and Jo has helped him overcome that and have the confidence to return to learning. He has grown very fond of her over the last year and will miss her lots. I can’t recommend Discover and Be highly enough. Thank you!

I feel so lucky to have been introduced to Sheila from Discover and Be. Both my daughters have been tutored by Sheila and she has completely changed their attitude to learning. We have used Discover And Be for general tutoring and now drum lessons. Oscar the drum teacher is so patient with my son and always knows how to get the best out of him. My son really enjoys his lesson and listens which is sometimes unusual for him and down to Oscar. The rest of the team at D and B are wonderful to deal with , always very helpful and swift to respond. I know the importance to them of having great tutors and they get it spot on every time .

Julie has been very supportive and really made a big difference to my daughter's approach to learning. She always makes the lessons fun and my daughter looks forward to Julie's visits. Julie has really  helped boost my daughter's confidence in Maths and she now has a can do" approach! It has really paid off and Emily now enjoys Maths and is doing very well at school. I contacted Sheila after my son's (Y5) very mediocre parents consultation where I just felt he was beginning to get a little lost in the classroom. Nothing specific but just under-performing. Sheila’s immediate enthusiasm and energy was fabulous....and she was completely positive we could get my child excited about being in a classroom again. The initial meeting was incredible - William connected with her immediately and she made the tests fun and showed him how tutoring was a chance for him, for one hour every week to voice any worries, concerns, confusions he might be having and to work through it. Sheila then introduced us to Helen who has been ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. The change in William’s attitude to work, homework, how he wants to perform and his general pride in his work can only be described as a 360! He waits for Helen every Monday, genuinely looking forward to her visit and I can’t tell you what a relief it is, as a parent, to have someone so incredibly engaging reigniting my child’s enthusiasm! Helen is BRILLIANT and I would not hesitate to recommend her and Discover and Be!

My daughter has been having maths tuition with Peter and she is doing really well. She enjoys her lessons, Peter is very patient and help her to understand the questions she struggles with. Although the fee is quite expensive, i feel it's worth it as my daughter will sit her GCSE'S in May!

Rhiannon is wonderful and talented instructor, she always welcomes my daughter and makes her comfortable. She is an experienced teacher with lots of patience and loves. My daughter always find her lessons is a good fun. She selected different piece of music and created own music story to help my daughter to remember the syllabus. Sometime she allowed my daughter choose what she wants to play .. In this way, my daughter has developed a passion of learning how to play the piano and practicing happily.

I chose Discover and Be because I wanted lessons that would teach my children not just to play music but to love it! My son has Christopher for guitar and my daughter Rhi for piano. The lessons are thoughtfully tailored to the children building their confidence and creativity as well as technical music skills. I only wish I could have had lessons like this when I was a child. I highly recommend them.
