The food we had was excellent but there is a fairly restricted menu, so if you are fussy it may be hard to find something to suit.It was incredibly noisy, although it was by no means full. Lots of hard surfaces and nothing to absorb sound made the time there painfully loud.It seems they may be training new staff for the summer, as they are friendly enough but still don’t know anything, and service is fairly slow. Hopefully this should improve with experience.There are no ashtrays outside but they allow smoking so the ground is littered with cigarette ends. We would have loved to sit outside but can’t eat while people are smoking round us, so I wish pubs would designate outside smoking and no smoking areas.

New look & great food. Tried out the new restaurant & all very impressive. Drinks menu is extensive and the quality of food is great. Good service & atmosphere, will def be back. Kids menu had a good choice and very good portions all round. Reasonable prices for the quality, will take cash for tip next time.Thanks Steve for a warm welcome & to Tom & the rest of the team. Good luck, sure it'll be a success.

Very nice although we booked and the table we were going to have was near a big gathering so we wouldn't be able to hear ourselves think! So had to go to the bar area but that was quiet and nice.Food was great. We did download app to get a discount but it wouldn't work as app want loading anyone's account.

Looking great after the refurbishment and rebranding but service, cleanliness (dining room mainly - other areas including toilet were good) and food quality and choice left a lot to be desired. Restaurant was not busy but food took longer than considering basic choices and very little clearing of tables and bar area happened during our visit. Items shown in pictures remained during 1+ hours there with staff continue to walk past. I had to clear our table and wipe just to sit down. Will need to improve greatly if we are to return - we are local.

I've just had what passes for a main meal here. Staff told us as we hadn't booked we'd have to sit at the bar. Lots of tables were empty just not cleared. Waited an age to be served and then tried to leave. Persuaded to stay, as they promised my meal was coming. It eventually arrived...cold chips and a microwaved mess. No point in complaining. Avoid.

Disappointed; this could (and should) be much better. First visit, Brunch, coffees, 11.15 Saturday, 2 people, £25.Pros: Staff very friendly, attentive, polite. Interior clean, tidy, comfortable, sunny and light or cosy - plenty of choice and looks recently refurbed, dog friendly in many areas. Coffees lovely, decent portions of food.Cons: Food - despite looking good (photo) the Full English Breakfast was a mix of decent and disappointing. No mushrooms available so asked for extra toms, the bacon and sausages seemed to have been (re?)heated / roasted and were just not hot enough to seem freshly cooked, tomatoes, hash browns, bbeans and poached egg were good, but toast was cold and bread dry. Partner had bbeans on toast and decent tasty portion.Only us and one other couple in, their food arrived after ours despite them ordering first. Waiting time from order just about okay if all had been good and fresh.Would we rush back? No.

The staff were absolutely lovely. Very good service and lovely people. The new decor is lovely but there is no atmosphere. We were sat near the fire, but we were absolutely freezing - some awful draft. I couldn’t even take my winter coat off. The food was expensive £17 for mains.etc… Luckily I only ordered a starter but it was disgusting. Mushrooms on toast. The toast was sent out to me from the kitchen burnt to start with. Why would you send out burned toast. Disgusting canned mushrooms in a gloopy bland strange coloured sauce - I think it was a can of mushroom soup like we used to have 40 years ago. Almost inedible. I couldn’t leave quick enough. Lovely staff.

We had Sunday lunch at the Cat & Fiddle on October 29th 2023. We had booked a table the day before which was good as the place was very busy on Sunday.We were given a table in the restaurant area which had very comfortable seats.The service we received by ‘Ruby’ our waitress was excellent and very attentive to our needs.We both ordered the Pork-belly roast, which was delicious and my wife’s Pavlova desert was something to behold.We will certainly return when in the area and have no hesitation in recommending it.

Reopens this week after a major refurb, new menu and different owners and we were one of the first customers. Modern, accessible, disabled loo, level access - lovely menu lots of choices and Poppy our server was lovely. Staff very attentive!
