Always had a nice pint here. Staff always friendly. However, the only reason I'm not giving a 5* review is on a few occasions when visiting I've had to wait a while to be served in the bar. This is due to no staff being available to serve.

The location was central, the car park was free, the room was spotless and it looked newly refurbished. Breakfast was great and the staff were all pleasant. We had a buffet on the previous evening which was outstanding and they even catered for vegans. Well worth the money. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Side entrance not very nice but it's still being refurbished should have done that first .But inside is completely different all new and had a lovely refurbishmentI don't know if they have started on the rooms but our one wasn't as carpet on the bathroom and up the bath but the room was very clean and nice beds with nice crisp white sheets and a fan too in this weather which was nice .Not bad bar prices and all the staff were very friendly.Close to the train station and bus station too.Near to the shops and weltherspoons too .Was a bit of noise early in the morning on a Saturday night but not too bad .Car park at the rear get fairly early to get a space not very big maybe 20 cars they say they have a overflow carpark but didn't like the look of it .looks like two cctv cameras over looking main car park .Anyway would stay again oh and good entertainment at night .

Booked 2 rooms. Hotel was pleasant enough but going through a refurbishment., so rooms were fresh, clean and bright. Breakfast was good with usual scrambled eggs, bacon n sausage. Downside was that there was no hot water for an evening shower before we headed out and still not working in the morning. Alerted the receptionist who said she would let the maintenance man know, but still not fixed.Came back in the evening round about 10.30pm looking forward to a night cap when the bar was closed. Asked why it was closed to which the receptionist, security and other member of staff (who were eating takeout behind the reception) said there was no one in so they closed up.

I've never seen a carpeted bathroom until I stayed here. The room smelled a bit odd and was cold. Somehow I couldn't control the radiator. It turns on and off whenever it wants to.I believe there's a karaoke bar right below the hotel, and I was unfortunate enough to get a room close to it. I could feel the floor vibrating to the beat of whatever music was playing.Dinner was delicious and they also offered vegetarian options. Staff was also kind and friendly.

Rooms are very basic 1970s, but clean. Carpets and sofa on the 1st floor were extremely grubby & dirty, we had a double room, with a carpet in the bathroom and up the bath panel, after being out for evening and re-entering the room we could smell urine. The was very hot so used the fan provided. We couldn't get the shower to work and did want a bath. Our room was room 108, the bar garden backed onto our room so was really noisy at 1am when we were trying to sleep so had to shut the window in already hot room! On booking, it full breakfast included, served from 8-10am, you need to go to their sister hotel, Blanco's a 5 min drive or have the Continental breakfast provided at The Grand, we didn't have either as we had a late night, didn't fancy the continental, and it was too much effort to drive for breakfast and back and check out by 11am... The hotel also has refugees stay, which is OK but was not mentioned during booking, so lots of bike in stairwells etc. It's does have laminated signs displayed on the walls stating the hotel is under refurbishment but £80 per night for what we had was expensive. Great location.
