Big Dog Ferry
A wonderful way to experience a stretch of the southern Broads, between Beccles and the Locks Inn, Geldeston.Not only that, overnight mooring is also available for a small fee, as is a water top up.If you want to experience nature at its best, look no further. Kingfishers, owls, swans and otters are your neighbours. Along with some stunning views.

After hearing good things about this company we booked the ferry several weeks ago to take guests for Sunday lunch at Geldeston. However the Company contacted us four days before to cancel. No explanation as to why. Money refunded quickly but left us having to make alternative plans - very disappointed and can’t recommend. Sorry Big Dog Ferry but this is very poor customer service. (To add insult to injury we received an invitation to review the non-existent trip!)

Made a lovely day even lovelier!! Walked from Beccles to Geldeston Lock ph, had a great pint and great food and the added bonus of music to listen to and then a lazy meander down the river with Big Dog Ferry back to Beccles! A perfect day!

An amazing way to spend the day! Our skipper was lovely, We left on time,1pm, beautiful boat trip along the broads, had lunch at The Lock Inn, lovely burgers! Went for a walk, sat by the river and fell asleep in the field. Then a lovely peaceful trip back to Beccles at 6pm.Just what the doctor ordered, rest and relaxation!! This was the third time we have used the Big Dog Ferry.

Beautiful day and an idyllic trip up the river. The only downside is that we had great difficulty parking in Beccles and two of our party ended up driving to the Locks Pub instead of sailing. In future we would allow much more time for parking.

Beautiful and relaxing journey to a river side pub where you can have food and drinks or swim in the river. Great to spot wildlife. Highly recommended to anyone!

A lovely peaceful trip along the water. We saw swans with their signets. Our skipper was knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed the round trip but one way options available. Highly recommend checking them out.

Very pleasant but very slow trip in a very small boat along the River Waveney and back. Worth it for that experience on a warm summer day. The destination is the Locks Inn (surely should be the Lock Inn!) has a delightful riverside location with tables outside - though when we arrived all were occupied. Good food which was worth the 25 minute wait - but beware - they stop taking food orders at 2!

A very relaxing and peaceful trip to the Locks Inn from Beccles Lido. Efficiently run and very friendly and knowledgeable skipper. Booking advised to avoid disappointment. We saw kingfishers, swans and ducks. Perfect for all the family!

Thoroughly enjoyable trip to and from The Locks Pub with skilful professional ‘skipper’. Only things to point out are: it was not possible to book return trip, so on booking outgoing trip unable to know if there would be spaces on return, luckily there were on this occasion also information on car parking was requested before trip, made phone call ansa phone suggested sending e mail which I did but e mail response received days after trip.
