Giro - the German Ambassador’s dog
I’m not sure what I was expecting but this was a bit anti-climactic. Still worth the discovery of a small beloved dog.

It needs a good clean up sadly. Was really keen to see a hidden bit of history.

Giro - the German Ambassador’s dog
From the top and to the right of The Duke of York's Steps, in front of a tree, is one of London's hidden gems ; a wee gravestone to Giro. A wee terrier dog that belonged to the then German Ambassador. Giro was accidentally electrocuted in 1934. The German Embassy gave him an official funeral and buriel outside the front of their then Embassy .It reads ; Ein treuer begleiter". Translated ; "A faithful companion".The German Embassy was then at 7 - 9 Carlton Gardens until the outbreak of the Second World War.In close proximity to The Duke of York Column and Steps
