Bass and Guitar Lessons with Alex

My 11 year old son loves his bass guitar lessons with Alex. He’s made great progress from a complete beginner to a competent and confident player over the last 18 months. Alex has introduced him to a wide range of music genres from Bowie to Metallica and everything in between. He’s made fast progress and looks forward to exploring new music each week under Alex’s patient tuition.

Alex is a great teacher who has been teaching my 12 year old daughter bass for over a year now which she thoroughly enjoys and in which time she has made great progress. Alex is patient and his lessons are well prepared and varied covering all styles. My daughter particularly enjoys Alex's many anecdotes about bands and musicians from different eras which are always informative and greatly adds to lessons. I highly recommend Alex

I took weekly bass lessons with Alex for just under 4 months and saw myself improve a lot in a relatively short time! I came to bass after playing guitar for about 10 years, and as Alex also came to bass from guitar he understood exactly what techniques I would need to work on and what habits from guitar I should avoid carrying over.Alex has a good sense of humour and we covered a variety of styles and genres, from pop and jazz to funk and metal, so I always enjoyed our lessons! When we covered music theory, his explanations were clear and didn’t go too fast.Alex is a great teacher and his rates are very reasonable too - definitely recommend.

This is my account but my 15 year old has been learning with Alex for well over a year now, she has grown more dedicated to guitar as Alex is very skilled at challenging her and also praising her when she’s shown progress. The musical influences he draws from are diverse so she’s never got bored or disinterested and whilst she had teachers for a few years previously in school she wasn’t really getting into it. Alex is incredibly patient with me as a parent and will be flexible when possible. He’s clearly so experienced as a teacher, which is very different from just being an excellent musician. He has really inspired my daughter who now wants to be in a band. We would both recommend Alex because he really knows what he’s doing and teaches adults and children and I found out he’s also teaching my friends son, who’s dad is a musician so that says a lot!

I went to Alex to brush up on my technique. Alex gave me short song based exercises with clear goals tailored to me as a player. I like the way Alex is patient, attentive and clearly spends time finding the best route for his students. The first lesson was free, so it's well worth a try, you won't be disappointed! :)
