Painting for Beginners St Agnes Cornwall.

When I joined Neil's Painting for Beginners, I knew I could draw and paint a little but with his encouragement I have progressed beyond belief. He shares so much with technique as well as teaching art history and we discuss other more modern painters too. Neil is so patient, encouraging and cares for our individual journey into achieving great work. The class is such a social hub too and we have fun - so important. I would recommend Neil's class - you will love it.

I was a novice with little experience of painting when I began the course. But with encouragement, guidance and good teaching from Neil Price I have made excellent progress and produced some good paintings. I have learnt such a lot and my confidence is growing. We have covered many aspects of art both in water colour and acrylic. I thoroughly recommend Neil’s art classes for beginners and those with some experience.

Neil is a very able and kind tutor. He can demonstrate painting with watercolour, acrylics and oils with equally high levels of ability and his levels of knowledge regarding mixing media seem phenomenal to me! He offers individual advice on our work to each member of the class and continually strives to push us ( gently) to improve, and we are not confined to the classroom but paint en plein air and take tours of local galleries under his auspices.; He is even planning a weekend away for more painting opportunities. I cannot recommend him and his course highly enough.

Cannot recommend this course highly enough. Neil’s knowledge of all aspects of art is colossal and he shares all of this with his students, both in his structured weekly presentations and in class discussions and one to one conversations. Suitable for complete beginners and also for those with some knowledge of art, this course will bring out the best of you and realise your full potential. I started with Neil in 2019 only having a little experience in water colour and basic acrylics. I’ve advanced so much under Neil’s gentle tuition that I’ve even held my own art exhibitions and am now taking commissions. It’s such a friendly and supportive group that I really don’t want to leave and I’m still learning more from Neil all the time. No wonder there is a waiting list for people to join!

Neil is an excellent teacher and has taught me from a complete beginner who was lacking in confidence to becoming a more confident painter.He makes the whole experience of painting a complete joy and spends time to develop new techniques to enhance your paintings.

I joined this course 18 months ago with slight experience of painting, and with minimal achievement. I did know a bit of drawing.Neil is a fine teacher and an experienced artist and illustrator. His lecturing style is friendly and relaxed, yet he speaks with authority.He demonstrates painting technique in both acrylic and water colour media. These are mini master classes superbly done.His digital skills with course material and visual aids are impressive and the quality of his slides is well-matched to the subject matter. The course is accompanied by a string of videos, made available online, that re-iterate the lectures and develop the finer points of his practical demonstrations.During each session he visits every member of the class. In such individual tuition, he is generous with his time and has shown me how to do things that I had thought to be impossible. He takes one forward in stages, giving you some easy wins to begin with but then challenges you to go further. This confidence building is the essence of his teaching style.The class I attend is a welcoming social group whose company I enjoy.Michael Thompson

This is by far and away the best art class I have ever been to, and over the years I’ve been to several. Neil has so much knowledge, experience and patience and I’ve learned so much. He creates such a friendly atmosphere and I just love being in the group. The teaching is very professionally managed, with demonstrations which are recorded and emailed to us on the evening of the sessions. I can’t fault it.
