My wife and I went off in search of an independent tea room or cafe in Cheltenham and were delighted to find Halfway to Heaven. We both had an Earl Grey tea and shared a treacle tart and lemon shortbread - both cakes were lovely.What really set the place apart was the super friendly service. The lady who served us happily chatting away to us both about our day/holiday/where we came from etc. The gentleman from the establishment popped in at the end as we were about to leave and also had a chat with us.There were two ladies in the tea room who were leaving just as we arrived and one of them left her glasses behind. The lady from Halfway To Heaven spotted this about five minutes or so after they had left and set off outside to try and find the customer to give her back her glasses - most places would have just set them aside and waited for the customer to return - now that's service.This is the kind of independent business that cares about its customers and their experiences and deserves to thrive. We hope others will make a very short detour away from the large chains and support such nice people in their endeavors.

A recommendation from a volunteer at the Minster brought us to this delightful place - a cool spot on a hot day. The salads - chicken grape and tarragon, and prawn and avocado - were beautifully prepared and delicious. The array of home-made cakes was irresistible! Service was friendly and helpful, prices reasonable. Can't wait to return.
