Acer Gundog Training Ltd

I found Acer gundog training online, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. The course is a combination of weekly classes which are excellent but the real added value is the video course which helps to remember the tricks you may have forgotten, and also means if you miss a week its easy to catch up. Mark is very good, matter of fact and responsive to queries. The training is totally reward based without any aversion, which I think is really important. My lab was about 5 months old when she started and has come on leaps and bounds in the 6 week puppy course. I would recommend without hesitation.

We have just completed the beginner improvers class run by Mel with our 21 month old Lab Monty. Our experience with Acer has been excellent - Mel is a great trainer providing expert practical advice and encouragement and the course is well structured, clear and progressive with each step building on the foundations of the last. The online videos and descriptions are among the best I've seen and compliment the face to face training perfectly. We are now enjoying the junior course and having great fun. We met Mark during our assessment and it is clear he runs a very professional company and is very knowledgeable and passionate about everything Gundog. Highly recommended!

Wished we’d found Acer sooner - Mel is fantastic and the video access is great for carrying on the training at home between lessons. Both of our dogs have really benefitted the sessions and love the lessons.

As a first-time dog owner at the age of 62, the training sessions and advice at Acer Gundogs has been invaluable, starting with a home visit by Sasha, who was so kind and reassuring and then Puppy Gundog classes with (the very knowledgeable and patient) Helen at the Bourne training ground. Brodie, my five month old Retriever and I thoroughly enjoy the classes, I feel the training has given me confidence and it has strengthened the bond between us. I particularly like the reward-based training approach, which keeps everything positive and enjoyable and access to on-line videos give clear instruction and valuable reminders on how to do each exercise, week on week. Highly recommended!

I started training with Acer autumn 2022 with my eight month old Labrador Leo.We started the beginner course with Mel, Hellen took us through junior and advanced foundation and we finished the improver with Sacha.All of them have been a pleasure to work with, their patience, fun and setting the dogs up to succeed makes it work for all.To see Leo go from a rather enthusiastic pup ( l want to retrieve everything NOW ) to a patient dog sitting off lead waiting for his turn has been a total joy.Watching him in full flight responding to the stop whistle has to be my favourite.So thank you so much all at Acer, we will return in the future to keep us updatedMaggie and Leo

I've been extremely pleased with the progress being made at Acer Gundog Training. We have attempted other types of training, not been a patch on the programme created at Acer.Mel our trainer is great and has perfected telling me what I'm doing wrong in the most diplomatic way. Notice I said me and not my ESS Smithy. He's already got this all sussed out!So glad we got involved with Acer, no regrets and looking forward to seeing how far Smithy and I can go. Cannot recommend enough!

I booked on to the foundation course with my working cocker Archie. I found the classes to be very thorough and informative. Jan was very patient with us and very reassuring when I wasn’t sure if I was doing something correctly. I found the training videos really helpful too as a refresher between classes. The classes were small, about 6 people/dogs, which meant it felt a bit more personal and Jan had the time to focus on us individually if needed which in my case was quite often! It made me realise how important it is to train your dog mentally as well as physically. I would definitely recommend Acer.

Fantastic experience with Sasha as trainer for our retriever Finlay starting with a 1on1 and then group beginner course. It was an absolute game-changer for both Finlay and us as trainers and really helped to improve his focus and build astronger bond with him. The building block approach and supplementary course video content was very useful to keep us on track between sessions and after the course. Highly recommend Acer and Sasha as a trainer!

Absolutely brilliant. Worked with Sasha and I found her training was geared to me as well as Maggie. After a wrist injury I found certain things more challenging, so great to have Sasha who understood and worked with this. Maggie really enjoys her morning and also the information and Sashas experience given has been so valuable. Maggie is walking really well responding to the whistle and overall a lovely experience for us both. Especially after having an unruly 7 now 8 month old puppy. Looking forward to the next level. Would highly recommend. It's also good fun ☺.

Sasha has been a great trainer. She is friendly, happy, positive and gives lots of encouragement. She is genuinely interested in how we have got on each week, and offers her support and guidance. I think owning Working Cocker Spaniels helps as Sasha fully understands their personalities and what they find difficult, ie sitting still, and fun, ie bouncing around! I have learnt a lot too, and my dog has fully engaged in the sessions and loves Sasha! I have signed up for the Junior course and look forward to getting started on that next week.
