Only passed by and had a quick look as it was not open while we were there. The grounds were nice though and the surrounding area beautiful.

The Holy Cross Church
Ilam is a very pretty little village with a manor house (now a YHA property), Swiss-style houses and a delightful and historic church. The surrounding landscape is beautiful. It's well worth a visit, particularly on a sunny day. Early in August there is a pilgrimage to the shrine of St. Bertram in the church.

Beautiful little church. Genuine Saint's Shrine and many other interesting features, including a huge memorial to a wealthy landowner which only emphasises the humility of the Saint.

The Holy Cross Church
Very interesting old church. The cross shafts outside and the font are Saxon and the tomb of St Bertram seems to be a site of pilgrimage. Lots of information sheets inside. Fascinating and peaceful.

Cosy and welcoming. Remembrance Day - pictures and histories of local casualties in the pews, gave sacrifices made a more personal touch.
