Just seen a really unjustified and spiteful review from someone who allowed his daughter to attend this academy for over a whole year before deciding that she was not attending more than once a month sometimes and being perfectly happy with everything until realising that he had to pay his last months fees and thrown his dolly out the pram! What an insult after I have seen the attention and quality of teaching your daughter has received even though you couldnt provide her with consistency for her to progress.Sometimes when you think you can target the people who have put your daughter first in their professio, you forget who youre actually talking to and only make everyone realise just how small and insignificant you actually are.Cinical reviews are a much easier way for those who have done nothing to try and make you feel their failings can be qualified somehow.Full support and constant avenues of communication were always there. You have to read things.Unfortunately. You will still be you and have to accept what you have failed to do or encourage or support yourself.

My 5 year old lad has been training with Melissa, who is fantastic, in the Junior Kickboxing class twice a week for the past few months and he absolutely loves it. He has become completely focused on his fitness and physique, doing the kickboxing exercises at home, and never wants to miss a lesson. The way they do things teaches the children (and adults) discipline, and training is within a fun, upbeat and friendly environment. The age group is from 5 up until 12, so it is ideal for younger siblings to join in too when they are old enough - my 3 year old, and 1 year old girl will be joining for sure… and the older ones inspire and help train the younger ones. The Big Boss also does specialist training sessions every so often, such as sparring techniques, which are very worthwhile for all disciplines. I am very pleased that I chose this club, my mind is at rest and my child has been filled with confidence and achievement from the word go. One Happy Mum :0)

We had looked at a number of places as my son (aged 11) was looking to take up martial arts. He came out after his trial session beaming and asking to go back, all the teachers have gone above and beyond to teach and support him.He comes out of each session absolutely buzzing and I can’t recommend them enough.

I’ve been a student at Gilliland Martial Arts Academy for 20 years and been training in martial arts for 31 years. Having read some of the reviews I feel certain things said are inaccurate and unjustified. This being said I consider myself qualified to give my ACCURATE and honest review of the Academy having trained in other clubs under different instructors/ organisations over many years. Firstly this is a full time, fully equipped martial arts dojo (not a gym…there’s a big difference!) you can learn a variety of arts under one roof with a chief instructor who has 50 years experience training all over the world under some of the best martial artists on the planet. The chief instructor has helped me over the years reach every goal I’ve set myself and under his teaching and guidance I now have 3 black belts In different arts. Every qualification I’ve gained I’ve earned (This is not a McDojo!!) we train by a martial arts ethos that goes back hundreds of years, dedication, perseverance, hard work, respect, courtesy etc. For me the cost is irrelevant because as a serious martial artist who’s been doing this a long time I know I’m getting the best quality teaching from a fully qualified expert in his chosen field. Unfortunately inaccurate reviews are given usually by those who haven’t given enough dedication to it and therefore get nothing out of it, ( once again this is not a McDojo!) To be successful in martial arts it takes time, dedication and hard work and a willingness to learn. Those who complain about the cost unfortunately can’t see the value in it and therefore inevitably leave. Over the 20 years I’ve seen many come and go, not through a failure in the teaching given by the academy but the lack of dedication and discipline by the individual. I can’t recommend Gilliland Academy enough to everyone, I’ve loved my 20 years at the academy and I plan to be there for another 20 years, progressing, learning, achieving and enjoying every moment along the way!! Craig, your review is totally inaccurate and I disagree with you completely. Unfortunately this platform gives people the chance to slate businesses purely because they don’t want to conform with the terms and conditions of the business they’ve chosen to deal with.

DON'T GET STUCK WITH 4 MONTHS COMPULSARY PAYMENT CONTRACT WHEN YOU DECIDE TO LEAVE.Please see the reply from Owner, proven the point I want to make. All communications are kept on what's up level. Parents not allowed to go upstairs. Owner ( Keith Gilliland) don't want to explain any contractual terms.I don't recommend this academy, as the main focus of this academy is making money. Loads of complicated wahts up groups you have to keep up with, the website is so poor and the owner is so arrogant. He never has time to talk.Monopoly or compulsions of buying their products, which are way too expensive than market products. But obviously, the owner says that other products are cheap quality than theirs.I paid for gloves and never received them when I asked for refund was told that once they get remaining contractual direct debits, then he will refund. These 2 were completely separate transactions but still no refund till today. Even though I have agreed to pay the contractual payments.Better you find a friendly and flexible classes for your kids in Leamington spa and avoid this academy.

I have been going to the small group training sessions with Melissa for two years. I absolutely love going, am the fittest I’ve ever been and would not go anywhere else. Melissa is committed to well being and fitness and makes the sessions varied and hard. I enjoy the small group training and we have a good laugh. Everyone should experience the Melissa way as it makes you feel fantastic! Gilliland is a great gym for all ages and abilities.

A poor setup from start to finish. If I could give it no stars I would. I have no specific axe to grind, but I do feel I need to call out poor customer service. The class itself is alright but the way the academy is run is appalling. They use many social media channels, but the way the owner communicates is shockingly bad, and even openly hostile at times. The aggressive response from the owner to any form of negative review should tell you all you need to know. Not much room for sensible discussion with this one!Unaccommodating and obstreperous pretty much sums it up.

I always wanted to learn martial arts and took up kickboxing here after the second lockdown of 2021. Everyone is very welcoming and patient - the quality of the classes is excellent and open to people of all levels. I have been impressed by the experience of our teachers and professionalism. I highly recommend to anyone who is even just considering learning a martial art.
