Avis Car Hire - Glasgow Central Station

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST (unless you’re fine with being scammed)Firstly, there’s a lot of hidden charges such as location surcharge and optional services (idek what are these services) that you will only find out when they bill you at the end of the rental. Bear in mind that they will try to talk their way out of it and give you no chance to dispute the unfair charges.Secondly, the staff in charge was very irresponsible because whatever information he gave us was different from the final charges. He told us we were able to return the car whenever we wanted as long as it was within the 24-hour window but we actually got charged by hour instead of day. He also told us we would only be charged for the amount of fuel we used but we got charged for the FULL tank instead which was really ridiculous and should’ve been told upfront.We should’ve known something was fishy when they took our deposits because the amount charged to our credit cards were clearly different from what was told verbally.Will definitely report this shady business/company to the authority.

Really hoping I get to edit this rating. The service on pick up was friendly. Returned the car after hours; absolutely no change in condition. They billed my card 1250GBP immediately, claiming they found a new scratch on wheel. They sent a picture of the damage, which was pre existing (thankfully I had a photo to prove this). No chance given to dispute the charge prior to them taking the money. Almost two weeks since I disputed the charge, no response from them, and I’m still wearing the credit card charge. Unimpressive corporate ethics. To be continued..

Scam place, I received lots of non-sense charges just as other comments stated.

The rental of our two booked cars went quick and friendly. Also returning the cars was convenient, however the parking spots in the return area are quite narrow.

Bad experience, the guy who was in the store said something different from what we were informed when we booked the cars. He was rude and unprofessional. He didn’t want to provide further information or give any option for helping us. Definitely will not recommend this service.

Location was convenient. Booked weeks in advance on the app as I'd had a positive experience at Avis in the US. Booked a MG HS as needed the boot space. Was given a Kia Niro Hybrid. When I mentioned it was smaller than what I had reserved staff kindly mansplained that it was the same size. There was an MG HS parked right next to the KIA and it was clearly not the same size. Had uploaded my license on the app and downloaded a code from DVLA as requested by Avis but check in procedure was just standard so not sure why I bothered. Car hadn't been washed and there was a wheel nut remover lying in the drinks holder which didn't really inspire confidence. After I'd returned the car and gone home I was sent the invoice which included an extra £12 charge cause why not? I guess it could have been worse but it could also have been a lot better. I would have stuck with Avis if the experience had been a little less shoddy but I'll go elsewhere next time.

Hired a Car from them as part of the corporate package and they added multiple optional services that increased the volume upto 3X the original amount. I couldn't understand their scottish accent being from India and they tricked me into adding the optional services inspite of my request to speak slowly. I would highly recommend to carefully check each and every detail of the rental agreement before hiring a car from them!

Avis is robbery company. I had booked car. Although I have driving lincense in English language and valid passport on delivery day , agent refused to give me a car saying documents are not enough. ( I got car from different renting agency later that day). Agent cancelled my booking. Avis has not refunded me my money. I am constantly reaching out to customer support but in vain. Avis are Robbers. I suggest everyone not to go to Avis.

Very disappointed and unhappy with the service provided. We were given the final bill that was a lot more than advised before we picked up the car. The salesperson mentioned that the only amount that we would be paying is the additional fee for upgrading into an automatic car which is around 50pounds. The total bill was 156pounds including other charges that WERE NOT advised from the beginning! I am baffled by how AVIS is close to being scammer. This is the worst car company I had booked with. Other things such as (1) Location surcharges were not advised from the beginning (2) Petrol was ill advised as well. We were made to understand that the prepaid fuel would be refunded accordingly but this was not the case, we were charged the full tank amount (3) I asked what happens if we return the car late and what are the additional charges, the sales person advised that the car can be returned within midnight with no additional charges BUT we were charged for the additional hours incurred.The entire experience was a scam and will be filling my complaints to the relevant parties.

All went well. Very friendly gentleman holding down the fort alone in the office. There was a line for pick up but he was fast, funny and very helpful. Car was good. The only (huge) downside is that the second that we started driving, a car tyre pressure warning came on.
