Market St Free Car Park
Said no overnight parking/sleeping but arrived after midnight in my motorhome, walked the dog at the park and slept soundly. Another walk and use the loos before carrying on. Worked well for me. Spotted loads of EV chargers too.

Good free car park on the edge of town - so not far to walk to everything.If you're visiting Castle Douglas, it seems you can park whenever you like for as long as you like. Hell, even the zig zag lines of a crossing are fair game.Ignore the 1 hour zone and double yellows on the high street they're advisory.No blue badge required to park where you like either.Highly recommended.

What's not to love about free parking, couldn't see any meters so I asked a lady who told me Dumfries and Galloway have free parking some have zones that require a disc, but she said you can leave a note on the dashboard saying what time you arrived. Castle Douglas is a nice place to visit just out side is Threave house and gardens which leads to a wetland walk. Brilliant walking around
