Went in for some advice and the lady was brilliant. She could have told us we needed to buy a b and c but didn’t, she helped us get the exact things we needed at the best price. I’d really recommend using Appleton Exotics.Also the animals in there are amazing!

Messaged them asking for advice on my bearded dragon, they didn’t reply and blocked me a couple of days after. Seems like they only care when you’re buying stuff off them, which is a terrible view to have if the shop promotes good animal welfare, in the reptile industry they should be friendly and passionate. Would not recommend for general advice.

Always go here when boarding my beardie. Just had a new tank for him from Appletons, brilliant. Good price, electrics fitted, delivered, £275. Very nice people.

We bought a blue and gold macaw from this shop. Terry, the owner, is very experienced and friendly, and was more than happy to answer all of our questions. The animals are well looked after. Our macaw is very healthy and super tame!! Would definitely recommend.

First time visit today to get a new bulb and some live food for cresties and leopards. Vivs/tanks are too small for the reptiles, fully grown python in the same size tank as a bearded dragon? Boarding animals didn’t have locks on tanks/vivs? 1 large python had mouth rot, store looked generally unclean. Loads of animals priced as ‘free if you buy the set up’ - Poor animal welfare from a seller.

Now I'm not normally one to shame businesses but this shop certainly deserves it. I'm not from around Appleton I simply went there to pass some time while I had other business in Wigan and maybe see if they had anything I wanted for my purchase. When I walked in the first thing I noticed was that the whole shop is covered in bird poo and feathers from the cages in which they cram all their birds and clearly never clean. They have a lot of enclosures which are all completely bare of enrichment and entirely unsuitable for the animals that they housed in them. The conditions of the cages are completely unsuitable and they are straight up neglecting these poor animals and they're suffering, after writing this review I will be contacting the authorities to have this shop investigated. The royal pythons were stuffed 2 in a tank with hides they can barely fit their heads into and riddled eith mites, their leopard geckos all crowded around their water bowl about 10 of them in a 40 gallon (max) tank literally all looked dead, I stood there for a few minutes and no signs of life at all there were also young bearded dragons in the same conditions a dozen of them stuffed in a tank all together. This shop will almost definitely be forced to close down soon after the RSPCA pay them a visit, but until that point PLEASE avoid this shop.

Emailed for a quote on a custom vivarium and didn’t get a response for 2 weeks during those two weeks I called 4 times to follow up each time being told I’d get a response that day and never did. When I finally got a response with a quote I emailed to ask how I would pay and what extras I could get and it’s been over a week again, so I gave up. I’ve now brought a vivarium from Aquacadabra, highly recommend them they have excellent customer service.
