I recently had engineering work carried out at Byre Engineering to my MGB 18V cylinder head.7 thou was removed from the head surface.Valve seats recut to remove pitting after I had fitted Leyland OE guides.All valves refaced to remove surface pitting.Combustion tests show that all the machining work was carried out to an excellent standard. Being a family firm Paul is keen to talk about all aspects of engine rebuilding and an invaluable source of information from somebody who carries out the work himself.Places such as Byre Engineering are few now. It is important when high quality work is carried out that a genuine review is written.

Today I met Paul for the first time who really helped me get out of problems that I was having with a Vauxhall head. It was a pleasure to see Paul work and i was watching a master at his trade. It was amazing to see him cutting the valve seat on the head with his brand new state of the art cutting machine. I would highly recommend if you need any of the services this place offers then you know what you leave with them is in safe hands and they will do a fabulous job. Got my engine reconditioned and within 5000 miles my engine is done as they didn’t change the pistons. Which in fairness to them apparently is not essential. But for the sake of a £30 part my car after paying £1300 didn’t even do 5000 miles. So all that money to them and get my engine took out and put back in the car is lost.

very helpful and very reasonable price. I only had a small job that needed doing but was too difficult to do myself and they made it look easy. Also I got seen the same day as soon I took my vehicle over so didn't even have to wait. Definitely can recommend this company.

hi ,i have been using byre engineering for the last 25 years and not once over all that time have i had to complain about any job they have carried out for me or any other mechanics i have told to use byre engineering .paul is so helpful and always has a smile on his face when i go into his placei would recommend anyone who is needing any engineering sorted out to go to byre engineering ,you will not get a better service any were else5 stars everytime !

Cant thank them enough 10 out of 10. Called Bryes about a Job apparently sent up by Windsor autos, they were able to tell me that no one worked there by the name of Tommy and no head gasket was sent back to any garage of my car model or other, that wasnt able to be skimmed. Effectively they had given the information I needed to confront Peter in Windsor Autos and categorically prove his lies.
