Cromwell's Bridge
Stunning little historical gem! Plenty of country walks around and plenty of places for a spot of lunch. Well worth seeing.

Cromwell's Bridge
A lovely historical scenic spot. A nice place for a picnic and a quick explore. But access isn't great and parking is tricky. As with many of the smaller places of interest in Lancashire, there's no car park, and signage is poor. We couldn't find anywhere near the bridge to park safely and had to park further along the road and then walk for about five minutes with little to no pavement. When you find the path to the bridge, it's only a short walk, but it's not the best of paths and probably not suitable for for those who aren't steady on their feet.Access to the river itself at the bridge would involve some scrambling, but if you cross the road, and walk along the path with the river to your right for about ten minutes you'll be find a few areas where it levels out and you can paddle etc.

Cromwell's Bridge
Cromwells bridge , so named because Oliver Cromwell is said to have crossed over it with an army of 8000 men plus many hundreds of horses , carts and wagons . They did stopat Stonyhurst but didnt actually use that bridge . I pass this bridge twice daily even though the history is not quite right , I always look forward to seeing this beautiful spot .

Cromwell's Bridge
Had a walk over the bridge it blew my mind that 8,000 soldiers and artillery had crossed it in 1648

Cromwell's Bridge
Absolutely stunning and you can walk over it, the same bridge that Oliver Cromwell marched his army of more than 8,000 soldiers along with artillery over the bridge on his way to the battle of Preston in 1648. That to me is mind blowing. The bridge is amazing there are no sidewalls so you have to be careful. Amazing.

Cromwell's Bridge
Built in the 1600 when Cromwell and his army stormed through Lancashire against the Royalists, unbelievable its still standing and so solid tbh. No parking except a little further up on a grass verge and just a short walk on the road back to the bridge. We did the Cornfield and Hurst Green loop, took about 2hrs, past the cornfields, into woods along the river, thru fields (with sheep so dogs on leads) 1/2 mile on the road and fields and woods again. Weather had been wet so some places were muddy, but very doable for the regular walker.

Cromwell's Bridge
No access, pathways on private lands and very busy road with no path so a bit disappointed.
