There's nothing wrong with the library, but, in my opinion, the librarians there are astonishingly misinformed. In 2018, a very bizarre man acted in a manner which I found homophobic and offensive. Instead of dealing with this appropriately, the librarian suggested that the victim in this case should sit in a place that should not allowed any potential further misunderstandings" like this to happen

The Brotherton Library is a lovely building.It dates from 1936, and was built with a £100,000 donation from Edward Brotherton (1st Baron Brotherton) and after whom it was named.The architecture is in the Beaux Arts style, with Art Deco fittings.The circular collonaded interior is modelled on the British Library Reading Room, but the architectural firm Lanchester & Lodge deliberately designed the Brotherton with a wider diameter (by 20 feet, to be exact).
