Family reunion lunch today in the conservatory overlooking the harbour. This is such a great location and the pub feels clean and cool as well as relaxed and comfortable. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. It was quiet in there at lunch time today but -so it was extra nice to have lots of personal attention. I don’t expect we could expect so much when it’s busy.We all went for the cod and chips with mushy peas -cooked to order and very nice.I had blackberry Eton mess which is really good without any excessive sugar if you find normal Eton mess sickly. We thought the beer was good and there are lots of different drinks to choose from. The ladies loos were very well looked after and clean. There’s an easily accessible but private extra loo right by the conservatory for less mobile customers. All in all we couldn’t find anything to grumble about the opposite in fact. Also, In the evenings it’s a lovely place to sit and have a pint watching it grow dark over the harbour.

I came down here for a drink with family, the location is lovely, the atmosphere inside and out is nice, toilets were clean, drinks were lovely. Only downside was that there was broken glass under and around every table outside, and although I understand the glass being there in the first place is not the fault of the establishment or staff, regular checks for this and thorough glass sweeping/hoovering should be undertaken, we had our dog with us as did many others and we weren't the only ones concerned about all the glass. We hand picked up as much of the glass as possible. If this feedback is taken on board I would definitely come here again and recommend to others. Thanks.

Went there for a Sunday roast which was absolutely superb. We both had the pork belly roast which was priced at roughly £15 each and it was cooked to absolutely perfection. The roast potatoes and gravy were delicious as were the vegetables and the portion size was very generous. The pork was soft and just melts in your mouth, the crackling was easy to eat and not too hard on your teeth. The staff were extremely polite and attentive and the pub is very well kept with a warm and friendly atmosphere which also is dog friendly. Will definitely be going back for another roast soon and I would highly recommend to those that are looking for a great Sunday roast.

October 2023 - The Jolly Roger has been a regular dependable go to no frills local pub of my family for many years now and we've always enjoyed our time there. We have seen staff and different managers come and go over the years but the current mix of young inexperienced staff has been a big turn off. They don't seem to have an understanding of what a customer expects from a pub/restaurant and have become really disengaged from the service element. The food remains reliably OK. But the staff are making the experience less than ideal to the point it's put us off visiting. It's a shame as my family feels the same and we no longer use the pub as our regular default go-to local meal option and have started exploring pubs further afield. I'm writing this in late October 2023 and the scenes behind the bar are more like a Youth club than a pub. It would certainly benefit from some more mature staff with character and an understanding of customers expectations . I hope management will become aware of the situation soon and find the right mix of personalities again as they are certainly losing my regular and at times not insignificant revenue from family meals.

What an amazing pub. The staff are friendly and the manageress was more than accommodating to our dogs. The food was amazing value and was also the best quality food I've had in a long time. I would highly recommend this quaint pub the highest in the area bar none. If you're in Gosport or Fareham I would encourage anyone to swing by for an a lovely pint and a bite to eat. You surely won't be disappointed. I know I for one if I am ever in the area I will swing my. They treat you like family and make you feel welcome and at home.

LOVELY little waterside pub with lots of charm. Food was interesting and also offers vegan alternatives. Outdoor tables or indoor with still great views! Very clever to put the check in an old book! Do recommend you try!

Nice pub close to the water with fabulous views, catering for eating & drinking in this large pub with outside space and car park at the rear.

The pub itself is lovely and in a lovely positionThe atmosphere is friendly and staff attentiveUnfortunately the food was very poor8oz Steak, asked for medium - steak was rare and the onion rings burnt to a crisp- one might think one off poor meal but generally nice food. The two other meals were not that great eitherChicken schnitzel - said came with salad, it was lettuce with a creamy sauce and some crispy sprinkles on top. The sprinkles tasted like plastic and was over the lettuce so I couldn’t eat the ? Salad. The chicken was mostly batter with what appeared to be a chicken breast somewhere in the middle.Needless to say the food wasn’t good.I wouldn’t currently recommend the food. The pub and staff are lovely but the food definitely needs improvement.Just for transparency the team offered to pay for our drinks as compensation. Drinks were 4 lime and soda’s. We were grateful for this but would rather have had a good quality meal.Looking forward to improvements in the food quality. We often go into the Jolly and as of late the food has not been up to standard hence the feedback

It was a Christmas dinner with friends. Friendly manager but food was not good the battered fish lacked fish. Burger was too greasy. Dessert was cold. Table was not wiped down and I did politely ask the waitress. Understand the area is a lively pub but think the restaurant area should be in more quiet area as I had drinking customers standing near me..butts in face. My review through years now a loud pub with music and not a place to enjoy to eat and chat.
