I stayed with friend's at The Poltimore Inn during the last bank holiday weekend in May whilst there for a friend's wedding festivities. Debbie and her staff did a fab job hosting us and many other's for the long weekend. The wedding reception was held at the hotel and it all went smoothly and really well. The room was lovely and spacious. All the facilities were really nice. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to North Devon / Exmoor National Park.

The Poltimore Inn
Pleasant pub situated in a typical small and picturesque Devon village just outside Exmoor. The interior is a little sterile but I guess that makes a change from the usual village pub chintz. I liked the restaurant with the views across the rolling countryside. Others in my party didn't. The food was decent and reasonably priced. It can get busy and the service does then slow down noticeably.

We went for a meal on a Tuesday evening in October, the pub (Inn) was nicely busy with a mix of locals and tourists. The atmosphere was lovely, very warm welcome from the lady serving behind the bar. The food was delicious, well prepared, especially the homemade pumpkin soup, and the Prawn linguine. The waitress was positive which made every interaction enjoyable. Another plus it was great value. I would say its would probably be worth booking as I think the Poltimore Inn would get busy at the weekends and high season.

We arrived after a long drive, They offered us an upgrade straight away outside the building. It was raining and down a long steep driveway. we declined. put our stuff in the room, (towel rail fell off bathroom wall when I put towel on it. We went straight down to eat and informed them straight away about the towel rail. First meals sent out chicken was raw and blood running out (pictures to prove this) Prawns undercooked, mixed grill was cooked but no colour to one side of the meats like it was done in a hurry. Bar manager was lovely she apologised asked what else we would like and offered us a free drink which we didn't want. I didn't want to risk a main meal and, as I'd not eaten since breakfast, just had a pudding. Hubby ordered a burger and chips with an extra burger on it, and it arrived without an extra burger. The chips weren't cooked and were hard, so they then brought fresh chips and extra burger. Chips were fine, but the second burger was burnt and hard on one side. The kitchen manager came out she was polite but argued it depends how you like your food cooking! Also they had been very busy. Bar manager had said any food would be free that night, and we were brought a £38 bill, so we asked for the manager/owner who was out right rude and obnoxious the way he was trying to defend the food. He told us the bill had been cleared so we went to our room.As we went up, we could hear them arguing in the kitchen and heard the owner say,'the law of averages your bound to get one wrong! We carried on to our room. 10 minute's, after we were in the room their was a knock on our door, husband answered, and the manager/owner and kitchen manager were standing their. The manager said,'You can stay tonight have breakfast but then we want you to leave.' I said what you are kicking us out because you fed me raw chicken? He said we aren't kicking you out. You can stay tonight, and we have asked you to leave in the morning! We said we have nowhere else to go. we had paid for 2 nights

This is a great pub/hotel. We’ve stayed here many times in the past the views from the rooms are great and the food that is served is always perfect. The staff can’t do enough for you.

A lively village pub, with accommodation and restaurant. It's great that a small village like North Molton has such an asset. Unfortunately, the beer is not kept well, which is a real shame and reduces the overall rating.

WOW! What a place. We went there for a telescope course and found a fantastic pub! Food was great, waitresses were attentive and service was brilliant. Observatory is fabulous and we saw such a lot, lucky to catch a clear sky. Definitely will be back and recommend.
