The Brampton Museum
Nice little museum that presents an eclectic array of artefacts from across the history of the borough, including a small number of the vast photographic collection that it holds. More please! The grandkids loved the toy collection and the shop reproductions, whilst we found a photo of an ancestor (a mayor of the borough).Lovely cafe on ground floor, privately operated.Free parking, grounds and recreation area for the kids. The miniature railway was closed, surprising for a bank holiday.

Just lovely. Went to see the part of British ceramics biennial houses there - stunning and well worth the trip. But so many lovely things, helpful staff and nice café! Go soon to see the ceramics and beautiful tapestry and go to other venues as well.

Excellent establishment for learning about the history of Newcastle-under-Lyme (aka 'The Castle'). It has paintings of people and buildings; there are stairs, ceilings, poems, shops, local arts, charters, statues, busts, windows, books, videos, lights, walls, arms, tables, chairs, floors, doors, a cafe, a reception, a garden and other things.

This is a beautiful little Museum & Gallery, inside & out is kept beautifully. We spent 1hr wandering around so much to see & when we arrived the ladies at reception were happy to tell us where to go & let us know a school party was due

Great museum with lots of nice displays and local history. The old street displays on the 1st floor are really fun too.

I was visiting Newcastle-under-Lyme for the day and, with time to kill, looked in at the Brampton Museum and Gallery. The building itself is charming. The staff are polite and helpful. However, in every other respect, this visit was disappointing. This is a museum from yesteryear with too many dusty looking cabinets full of non contextualised items and too few interactive displays. The exhibition 'The Borough in 80 Objects' purported to tell Newcastle-under-Lyme's story through a series of items on display. It may have done so, but only if you were prepared to bend down and read the many display cards positioned far below one's eyeline with a typeface too small to make reading easy.

hidden gem only spotted by us when we were briefly lost en route back to Endon. (foreigners from London!) Noticed beautiful building and name then looked it up. Sadly we have never found any literature in places such as tourist offices or Stoke museum yet this place beats Stoke museum hands down. We took grandchildren however displays were of interest to all ages. The atmosphere in the recreated shops area was stunning. The Matisse 'cut out 'exhibition again deserved national advertising.Leaving the cafe (too white!) there were gardens to enjoy and again unknown to us, a railway which was free but well worth a donation. Places like this should be better advertised, then again we enjoyed the peace!
