Nacton Shores

Used to love this place. Suggest enjoy the walk midweek now, it's very crowded at weekends, and parking is tricky. A lot of dogs!......A couple of picnic tables on an area of grass which can get boggy, not much used.

Beautiful views and a great place to have a walk for all the family

Beautiful, tree shaded, secluded foreshore along the east side of the River Orwell, quite unusual for having a soft sandy beach, rather than the more typical shingle & mud. Nacton Shores offers fantastic views of the Orwell Estuary & across the river towards Freston, Woolverstone, & Pin Mill. Endless photo opportunities, especially of the Orwell Bridge & a great recreational area for dogs. The view on the opposite side of the river is Wherstead & when the trees have lost their leaves it's possible to see the church tower atop the hill. It's also possible to see Freston Tower on the foreshore across the bay on the saltings.

Perfect location by the river for lovely country walks. Peaceful, tranquil and always nice for a picnic in the summer as well

Pretty and remote (but not far from Ipswich). Great place for skimming stones when the tide is in, or bird spotting when the tide is out.

I fell and broke my arm and my dogs leg 0/10 no safety

Great at any time but better on a high tide just before sunset. There is always a good chance you will spot a few deer.
