Moneywise Credit Union

OK, I so much want to be positive here. I truly believe the idea of a local credit union that understands the needs of the community around it should be supported in any way possible.Moneywise advertised itself as an alternative to loan sharks, claiming to offer loans at far lower interest rates. However, this is dependant on whether you are accepted or not.In my case, I used to own my own business. My shop would make several hundered pounds a day. That was until I had a stroke ten years ago.Now things are a lot different. I don't have to disposable income I once had. However, I have made sure I paid any debt in full, on time (usually earlier). Because of this I have a perfect 32 year payment history of credit.Combined with being a member of Moneywise for around 8 months, saving with them every month, I thought I'd be an ideal customer.When a family emergency occurred, we thought we'd apply for a loan. During the process, they got my date of birth wrong and then took two weeks to decide I wasn't eligible for the loan.Well, that's their decision, but what it does show is that no matter how well you've maintained repayments over the years, and no matter what you've been through in the process, you still can't rely on Moneywise to help you out in an emergency.It also really doesn't help when the lady dealing with your complaint admits they made a mistake but can't do anything about it now.I guess the only people you can rely on are the doorstep lenders.

Absolutely 5 stars had a big emergency with my pet and needed to pay huge pet bill they sorted me out straight away even though it was near closing time this is the byker branch 19th july 2023 the staff where fantastic, basically saved my cats life ,thankyou to them amazing staff x

Very frustrating company, I’ve waited since 11th October to hear back about a family loan through my CB after sending all my info and proof of bank statements, ID and stuff… I ended up ringing and ended up getting a decision emailed by the end of yesterday. I have been declined due to affordability… I applied for a family loan that is meant to be deducted from my child benefit so I don’t understand how I can be declined due to affordability when the proof of how much child benefit I get is shown as proof, They say they don’t due credit checks on there site but they obviously do… I applied for a family loan to give me a bit of settlement over the christmas period having 3 children and I feel like this was a total waste of time and if you have a overdraft or your credit score isn’t top notch then I seriously wouldn’t bother, Because if i’m paying back my monthly family loan automatically out my child benefit I don’t understand how I can be declined. Would not recommend

I applied for a family loan with moneywise credit union and I haven't known anything to be so frustrating in my life. They ask for documents of identification to be sent one way and then don't accept it to be then asked to send it another way and yet again they won't accept it. I decided to cancelled my application with moneywise in the end as I didn't feel they were even going to consider accepting me.

Been trying to ring the office for 3 working days now and it's as if the phones are off the hook I have emailed and I've been ignored aswell not a happy customer I understand its a busy time of the year but still expect some acknowledgement.

It says online your open but every time I ring its saying ring back at 10:30am I have been trying to phone for over a week, are yous open or not?

These credit unions tell you to use them instead of doorstep lenders yet they take t to decline your application. Waste of time trying. ....Why would I call to discuss....you declined me?

Your older app worked fine I could see my balance and transfer when I needed to,now I can't do either,I cant see the point in having an account anymore if you can't do the basics.

Always friendly and nothing is too much trouble from the staff at Byker shop. Great way to save money as you can put in as much or as little as you want. I pay by direct debit which is a godsend.
